Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette Review & Video
Suuuper late on getting this post on the blog, but I wanted to make sure I got it up for you all! This is a new palette out for Spring from Too Faced, called Chocolate Bar. It contains 16 eyeshadows that all have cocoa powder in them, so the palette actually has a chocolate smell to it. The shadows come in varying textures, from sparkly to shimmery to matte and satin, along with coming in a nice range of mostly neutral shades (which also fits in with the chocolate theme!) Check out photos below, along with my video review.
Gilded Ganache Gilded Ganache
Gilded Ganache is a dark brown satin with gold shimmer.
White Chocolate White Chocolate
White Chocolate is a light beige matte. It’s slightly lighter than my skin tone, a little more pink as well. It has nice color payoff and texture.
Milk Chocolate Milk Chocolate
Milk Chocolate is a taupe satin. The swatch here looks a little warmer than it actually is (sorry about that) but the texture is decent.
Black Forrest Truffle Black Forrest Truffle
Black Forrest Truffle is a deep blackened burgundy shade with gold sparkle.
Triple Fudge Triple Fudge
Triple Fudge is a dark chocolate brown matte. I wasn’t a huge fan of the texture on this one and found it wasn’t very smooth.
Salted Caramel Salted Caramel
Salted Caramel is a matte warm orangey brown. I love this shade, and it has really great color payoff and is super smooth.
Marzipan is a super shimmery pink beige. Great texture here.
Semi-Sweet is a matte medium brown. Like some of the other mattes, this one didn’t have great texture.
Strawberry Bon Bon Strawberry Bon Bon
Strawberry Bon Bon is a light baby pink with slight shimmer. This doesn’t have the most amazing color payoff, so if you really wanted it to pop I’d use it over a white base.
Candied Violet Candied Violet
Candied Violet has a deep purple base with a brighter violet shimmer. I really love this shade, it works well for a smokey look with a bit of color.
Amaretto is a copper shimmer. Great texture and color payoff.
Hazlenut is a warm brown with golden shimmer. Again, great texture and color here.
Creme Brûlée Creme Brûlée
Creme Brûlée is a gold with loads of gold shimmer. I don’t really think the name fits the color (its a bit too gold, not enough golden brown) but the color is really nice.
Haute Chocolate Haute Chocolate
Haute Chocolate is a taupe brown with warm shimmer.
Cherry Cordial Cherry Cordial
Cherry Cordial is a warm burgundy with slight silver sparkle. The sparkle is really subtle here, but This has decent color payoff.
Champagne Truffle Champagne Truffle
Champagne Truffle is a very light pink beige with loads of sparkle. Super smooth texture.
I love the packaging and design of this palette, and how it all really fits into the chocolate theme. I have to say I don’t love the way this smells- I’ve never been a fan of chocolate smells unless its like, a real chocolate bar or brownies or something, and even though this has real cocoa in it I still feel like it has that artificial chocolate scent going on. It’s not a huge deal, as the scent is only really strong when the palette is first opened, and then it mellows out.
With a few exceptions of a couple mattes that took more work than I’d like, I really did like this palette. I will have a couple looks posted using this palette over the next week, so stay tuned!
Also, in case you missed it, here is my video review of the palette. Enjoy!
