OPI Serena Glam Slam Polishes & Giveaway

There has been a lot of hype about what seems to be the latest trend in nail polish: polishes that create a shattered effect on the nails when applied over another color. OPI has one, and I know China Glaze is coming out with one soon!

The OPI Black Shatter polish came out with both the Katy Perry Collection, as well as with a Serena Williams polish. Today We’ll be talking about that one!

opisimplysmashing.jpgSimply Smash-ing! alone. Nice pretty yellow-green.

opishatter.jpgWith Black Shatter on top. The style of the shatter will be completely different on each nail, but I have noticed that the thicker the coat of the Shatter polish, the bigger the shattered pieces will be. Notice my ring finger versus my pinkie, huge difference!

opishatter2.jpgIf you want the shatter to be really small, like on this pinkie, do a REALLY thin, see-through, splotchy coat of the Black Shatter. You’ll want to make it an even coat, but trust me, it’s going to break apart anyways, and that’s the easiest way to control the shatter piece size I’ve found.

Black Shatter kinda dries to a satin finish, so if you want it to have a high-gloss, vinyl looking finish, apply a top coat. (These photos were taken before top coat was applied.)

I happened to buy an extra set of these, so enter below for your chance to win!! :)

    Krackle Polish is amazing :’3
I’d love to have one in a silver color though! I wonder if anyone has made that version?
Probably not, the glitter might remain on the rest of the color so I’d doubt it.

I ordered mine from trans designs along with the katy perry collection. I had to order the serena williams set and the mini bottles of katy perry’s collection. The black shatter is really cool. I was playing around with it last night. I prefer a top coat over it, cause I think on it’s own it looks dull….

Would love to win the polish! The shatter polish is out of stock at my Ulta. And that’s the only local place that carries OPI.

The shatter looks cool but Barry M Cosmetics have been doing a similar nail varnish here in the UK for MONTHS! Has the same effect and is £4 a bottle (don’t know what that would be in dollars but thats fairly cheap for the UK).

sweeeet! I hopped on over to the store to find the shattered np but they sold out so I grabbed 3 of the Katy Perry ones instead. teeheee when you don’t find what you’re looking for, buy 3x of something else. Good lesson! :)

    Is this giveaway open internationally?

    Hi Leesha!

I’ve been following you on youtube for quite some time now, you are one of the few people that can actually do a make up tutorial without it looking dirty, i’m sorry, but for the most part, the tutorials i’ve seen have always been sort of messy, like michelle phan’s and that kind of turns me off a lot on makeup.

i do think some people look great with it on, but i’ve never been able to pull off even one lipstick. i guess in some people it just ages them and makes them look weird. i cannot pull off makeup, stilly my love of fashion has made me want to try and learn some stuff. i’ve just recently finished university and am currently doing wedding photography albums and layouts so i can save up money to build my photography equipment, that’s what i’ve just finished studying for. so, in order to start building some projects and being that the fashion photography area is really a big interest i was wondering about learning a few things to do on my models, since there is no money for professional people to do it.

i am more interested at the moment at finding easily acessible and more cheap products since i don’t see the point in investing in something i know nothing about. still i don’t wanna ruin no ones skin.. so if you could please help me as to what a begginner shoud buy that is not to expensive but not bad quality..

    i’m sorry for the rambling…

    have a great sunday! hug*

Thanks for the post. I’ve been following you in YouTube for quite some time now; you’re the best tutorial ever. I’ve been looking for a reliable site that could help me in repairing my nail polish. Where can I buy such OPI nail polish on line? Please let me know. Keep on posting such useful information.

    Hey Leesha,

    That looks awesome.
Are you going to get any more of the Katy Perry Collection?
If so could you swatch them please?

Oh & plus if you’re looking for a way more affordable version of the Shatter Polish I suggest you try the Barry M Nail Effects Polish it’s really great but a little hard to get hold of.

    Hey!

These are super cool, but I’m not totally amazed. I’m actually a little surprised that this hasn’t been around for a while. I’ve used paints that do this and they’ve been around for years and years.

Still, the effect is pretty cool!
