OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Collection Part 2: Swatches, Photos, Review

By  |  15 Comments

OPI has come out with six new colors inspired by the upcoming film Pirates of the Caribbean: Stranger Tides, along with a silver shatter polish. Here is the second half of the collection, the cool toned blues and greens!

Opipotc 9Skull & Glossbones, Stranger Tides, Mermaids Tears

Opipotc 10Silver Shatter

Opipotc 13Skull & Glossbones, 2 Coats

Opipotc 14Skull & Glossbones topped with Silver Shatter & Top Coat

Opipotc 11Stranger Tides, 2 Coats

Opipotc 15Mermaids Tears, 2 Coats

I definitely feel that these colors are more appropriate for a Pirate theme than the pink/purple pastels, with the murky gray and eerie muted greens. I have to say as well, I love the names of these! OPI always makes me laugh when they do play-on-words for the polish names :) Like the first half of this collection, these all apply really nicely opaque after 2 coats and have a nice, cream finish.

As I mentioned in the previous post, make sure you apply the Silver Shatter on top of totally dry polish, and then wait until the shatter itself is completely dry before applying top coat. You can see in Skull & Glossbones and Mermaids Tears that I was rushing a bit, and the shatter starts to bunch up and not look so smooth.

These will be available May 2011 from OPI.

Check out Part 1 of this collection here!

GOSH! ok, i think i definitely fell for this entire collection seeing these swatches! Skull and Glossbones .. wow, such a nice subdued colour… and them Mermaid Tears… but Strange tides looks like it could be created from both of these colours. Anyway they’re pretty colours although the most pirate-like thing about them are their names.
Thanks for Reviewing and swatching Leesha!

I’m happy to have Mermaids Tears and Stranger Tides. Now I want Skull & Glossbones. As for the shatter, not for me, definitively. Let me add Planks a Lot, I love this color so much… Mermaids Tears is a wonderful mint-type nail polish a green/blue but greener than bluer, while stranger tides is a yellow green, a yellowish green I may say, say, very light khaki. In France it seems not to be appreciated for its own because of it looks vampirish on nails when you’re light (skin of course). Well a friend of mine who is NW20 loves it so the best is to try and love it for its own (I promote it, ahahaha, because I love stranger tides). Now I want skull & glassbones…
