Ombre Lips & Neutral Eyes Tutorial

By  |  30 Comments

Last weekend I saw a really cool article in Nylon Magazine showing Lip Ombres and how they were popular on the runway. I thought it was a really fun yet easy idea, so I wanted to try it in a tutorial! Here’s what I came up with, I hope you enjoy :)

The lips are very cool but not particularly wearable, however I LOVE LOVE LOVE the eyes and when your lips were still nude it really looked great so I’d do it with a nude lipstick for a really cool party look.

I wish to God I could hire you to do my make up. Honestly. I’ve been watching you for years, without attempting to do any of these, not out of thinking it’s too hard, but I never use much make up anyways, unless I’m going out. But I absolutely adore you and wish I could get married (even though Im super single) just so you could do my make up.. :)

Also this looks SO simple. I thought the lips would take 20 minutes, in it of itself, because they look so complex. THAT I would like to try out sometime!

this is gorgeous! though as a photographer i feel like i owe it to you to share a quick tip to eliminate the orangey-yellow color cast in your full face pictures. if you use photoshop, just go to image–>adjust–>auto color or auto tone. it’ll take that color cast away and make the photo look more true to life!

Those lips photograph something FIERCE. They’re ridiculously gorgeous in photos, although I agree that I don’t like them as much for wear. Still, it takes a pretty creative mind to pull it off – thanks for showing! :D

Not sure if I like it…It makes the lips look really small.

It seems like your wearable looks are getting alot less wearable. Is Wearable Wednesday dying?

I stopped calling them “Wearable Wednesday” and “Fierce Friday” because unless its a look with two shades of brown or a look filled with neon colors, I get told it’s not wearable/not fierce. everyone is going to have a different opinion on what is wearable and what is fierce depending on what they are comfortable wearing makeup-wise, so I just settled for having tutorials every wednesday and friday that don’t cater to being necessarily wearable or fierce.

Love it! Also, you mentioned in the video the blush ombre was from an upcoming launch for MAC, are they similar to the ones a few years ago?! Will you be reviewing them? I would be sooooo ecstatic.^^

    Hi Leesha! Awesome look!

I just wanted to let you know I was searching for this video on YT and I came across a user by the name of kissandMAKEUP who is using the photo of your lips as one of her images for her YT video. Her video is entitled “Bold Lashes and Ombre Lips.”

She does not credit you at all as the source of the image. Just thought I would let you know.
