OCC Collection “The Garden” Lip Tars

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics has a new collection out for Spring/Summer, and it includes six new eyeshadows, lip tars, and nail polishes. I’ve reviewed the eyeshadows in a previous post, so let’s get to the lip tars!

The Lip Tars in this collection are all on the warm side for the most part, and range from carmely browns to bubblegum pinks, and include some out-there shades, like a bold teal and vibrant violet. This collection also debuts the new Lip Tar packaging, which I discuss in this post.

If you have never used lip tars, know that a liiiitttle goes a very long way, and they all have a satiny finish, feel light on the lips, have a slight minty feeling to them, and last hours and hours and hours.

Kava Kava, Ophelia, Digitalis, Belladonna, Chlorophyll, Pennyroyal

Occ lip tar the garden

Kava Kava: True Peach Neutral. This is a nice, muted orangey peach shade. I generally lean toward brighter orange lip shades, but this one is still nice!

Ophelia: Pure Petal Pink. Nice, light bubblegum pink. Such a springy shade!

Digitalis: Pink-tinged Lavender. Very Similar to Ophelia, just a touch darker and cooler.

Belladonna: Ultra, Ultra Violet. They aren’t kidding. This shade is AMAZING. I’d wear it out! True, awesome violet.

Chlorophyll: Full-on Teal. I’m sure more than one of you are wondering what on earth you would do with a lip color this shade. Lip tars are not only meant to just be applied as-is to the lips, but also are meant for mixing to create new shades. A shade like Chlorophyll would work well to help neutralize a red color that is a bit too bright.

Pennyroyal: Roasted Peach/Brown. A few shades deeper than Kava Kava.

The colors in this collection are really appropriate for the name of this collection being The Garden, as that’s the first thing I really think of on seeing these colors all together! They make me think of flowers, leaves, the earth, maybe some bricks surrounding it.. I have a little image in my head haha :) Like always, I am a huge fan of lip tars in general; I love how easy they are to apply, that a tube of it will last you a lifetime, and how long they last. I wore one shade (NSFW) to a music festival last year, it was on for about 10 hours and didn’t fade even a bit. These suckers LAST!

Overall: This is a beautiful, well rounded collection of lip tars, in my opinion! A little something for everyone.
What you need: I would say Belladonna, but I know that’s not going to happen, haha. I’ll go with Digitalis.

Available for $13 each from OCC Makeup.

On the back of the lip tars it says 12 months. Does that mean they are only good for 12 months and then they shouldn’t be used? I know they last a long time and I can’t even get through one tube even though I use it a lot. Thanks Leesha for the pictures they are beautiful and I hope I can buy some of these at IMATS.

Do you apple a primer or anything before these to make them last? I have nsfw and it always fades on me around the inside of my lips. It could be that I’m usually drinking but I try to be careful and it still happens. Any suggestions would help.

I generally dont have an issue with these fading, but you could always apply a translucent powder on top of them, that will make them last basically forever lol

I totally agree that Belladonna is the MUST have of this collection! What an awesome shade to wear alone and play with! And people might call me weird for it- but I can’t help but be in love with Chlorophyll too! …

Blah blah blah exclamation point! Aaaand more exclamation points!!!!! <– lame me. Makes a girl wish there was some sort of punctuation mark that was between exclamation ecstatic and a droll period…

I LOVE both pink tones. I don’t own any occ but been wanting to try lip tar. I dig the purple but I’m not brave enough to wear it :)

Do you usually use a lip liner when you wear them out?
How you you keep them from setting in the lines of your lips so much and make it less drying? I tried putting chapstick over it and it makes it crease I guess? I don’t know how to describe it.

Wow, these are awesome! I’d go for the more extreme colours, like the last three. Those are stunning.

What lip conditioner do you use? I have several OCC Lip Tars and know that they don’t look that perfect on unless your lips are well conditioned.  Excellent swatches!

Do you know if SugarPill or OCC plan on being at IMATS Toronto?

Totally unrelated to this post, but I just have to say that I love the new logo, and hate the new home page layout. There’s too much going on, and the actual content is so squished that you can’t get a good look at it. I couldn’t even figure out how to get to older posts from the home page.

Oh my gosh, I love all of them (including the real), but especially the first peach tone. I really want them <3 Also, you have really pretty lips (no homo).
