Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics- Sci-Fi Lullabies Collection Lip Tars

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics newest collection is the Sci-Fi Lullabies collection, and includes six new Lip Tar shades, ranging from the palest beige to a shimmery black. Four of the six are metallic, while the other two have that signature pigmented, rich, glossy lip tar finish.

Pris is a pale beige with a slight neutral pink undertone and is super metallic. It’s extremely pale and was slightly uneven when I applied it, but as I mentioned before this could be because my lips have been extremely dry lately (and thats basically the worst for macro lip swatches, ugh!)

Zhora Lip TarOCCSciFi 10Zhora Lip Tar

Zhora is a pale peach with gold metallic. I really love these metallic lip tars, and this color may be my favorite for this collection. I absolutely love peach lip colors, and this one is such a cool spring shade.

OCCSciFi 5Annika Lip TarOCCSciFi 11Annika Lip Tar

Annika is also a pale peach, but incredibly pigmented. I love this one too, and loooove the name! I’ve never heard the name Annika before, so cool!

OCCSciFi 6Lovecraft Lip TarOCCSciFi 12Lovecraft Lip Tar

Lovecraft is a bright metallic lilac pink. Gorgeous, and I love the name on this one too!

OCCSciFi 7Clockwork Lip TarOCCSciFi 13Clockwork Lip Tar

Clockwork is a medium dark orange. Superpigmented and rich!

OCCSciFi 8Batty Lip TarOCCSciFi 14Batty Lip Tar

Batty is a black metallic with silver. This one didn’t apply nearly as awesome as I was hoping, it was much sheerer. Granted, Lip tars have a tendency to separate when they haven’t been moved for awhile, so it might have been because the color wasn’t as mixed as it should be. Side note- if your lip tars ever separate, all you have to do is flip them over from how they were sitting and wait about an hour, and they will mix themselves!

If you’ve never used Lip Tar before, they can be a bit intimidating. The key is to use the tiniest amount on a lip or angle brush- honestly the SMALLEST amount- and apply to your lips. Lip tar lasts a super long time and is an amazing product, one tube will last you forrrreeeeeverrrr!!

Available for $18 each from OCC Makeup.

My little sister’s name is Annika! We pronounce it “Ah-nika” but some people say “Ann-ika”. Did you ever watch Pippi Longstockings? It was my favorite when I was little and that’s where it came from. I think it’s Swedish or German or something. It’s so cool that she has a lip tar with her name!

I love how OCC take inspiration from classics of different genres for their seasonal collections, as they did before with Heroine. I’m not totally sold on the colors this time around, but they do fit perfectly with the brand’s creative outlook on makeup and that’s something I can get behind!

(For those who won’t bother looking up the names, I did: Batty, Pris and Zhora are characters from Blade Runner, Annika is from Star Trek Voyager, Clockwork from A Clockwork Orange and Lovecraft is of course named after famous sci-fi writer H. P. Lovecraft.)

I really want Pris, just for the name and the Sci-Fi behind it, but I don’t think it will be flattering on me, sadly. So Annika it is! Love this post, thanks for the swatches!

I loved Batty with that application actually. Makes me think it could be used as a gloss maybe over a matte red lipstick to make it look really cool. But I have never tried Lip Tars so I don’t know if you could do that with them…

These colors are pretty neat! I love Pris, Zhora, and Lovecraft. (I’m a huge Cthulhu Nerd, so I’m happy the color looks fun!)

Does Batty have a brownish-reddish undertone or is that just the camera? I’m wondering if that’s just a camera artifact or if Batty is just a black with silver? I bought a bunch of sample sized Lip Tars from a girl on eBay (http://bit.ly/14Wff0R) in nude colors and I’m thinking about buying Batty or Tarred to darken them a tiny bit.
