NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils Collection: Swatches, Photos

I’m a huge fan of NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils! They’re creamy and nicely pigmented and work amazingly as an eyeshadow base, blended out before applying eyeshadow to give it an extra boost (If you know me, you know I love and adore my Milk Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil!!) Here are swatches of the pencils I have now!

Thanks for posting these swatches, Leesha. I noticed in your picture some of the pencils are plastic around the product, not wood. Do you know how you sharpen those plastic ones? I can’t image they’d work in a conventional large sized sharpener.

I’m so glad you posted these. I’ve had my eye on the UD shadow pencils, can I get away with buying these instead?

    • Leesha says:

it depends on what color you are looking for and how you intend to use it. these I like as an eyeshadow base but the UD ones can pass as a shadow alone because they are a lot less creamy than these. they also have actual glitter pieces in them so theyre a bit different but price wise i’d go for these

  3. Lauren says:

I love these! Especially the green (my favorite color)

Around where I live, there is only one place that carries NYX product. They NEVER have the Milk jumbo pencil in stock, or maybe they just weren’t supplied with it. Cottage Cheese is always there though.

  4. Bree says:

I only have two of them. Milk and Yellow. I LOVE them. I will for sure be buying more! Purple for sure! (BTW, you need to have another webcast :) ) Bree here, ready for Troll Patrol :P

  5. Vijaya says:

For me, I’d be more impressed with these if they didn’t crease. On me, I always need primer. They definitely help a lot with vibrancy, though!

  6. kristi says:

ugh i wish they would have named the shimmery white one something other than cottage cheese. it just makes me think of…gross things. yech.

  7. LZ says:

my favorite njep is milk! great as a highlight :) on the purple one it kind of looks like it stains the skin pinkish and then on top has a purple sheen to it though…is it always like that?

  8. Sophie says:

Milk, rocky mountain green, electric blue, french fries, purple velvet.. love all of them but i guess these are the ones i use the most!

  9. jengray says:

when using these as a base, do you still use a eyeshadow primer beforehand? like, primer > jumbo pencil > eyeshadow?

    • MissR says:

I do! I think it depends on how much your eyeshadow tends to crease, I know a couple people who can just use it and eyeshadow and be fine.

  10. MissR says:

Milk is obviously the favorite (most versatile), I like the purple one a lot. One of my favorite things is using Pure Gold underneath Goldilux from Sugar Pill. It warms it up and makes it stick really well… The one that I like the least, which you don’t seem to have is Black Bean, NYX pencils are supposed to be creamy but that one is down right greasy.

  11. Janine says:

I’ve used the milk quite a few times as a base and at Halloween I used the red one (not sure the shade name) as a base for my red and black Medusa look and it worked great.

for those in the UK, I was very excited the other day that my local BHS stocked a whole range of NYX products including these, I’d only ever seen them on ebay before.

  12. Mari says:

Can you wear them on the waterline? I was thinking milk or cottage cheese on the waterline cuz my mac fascinating or mac chromographic pencils don’t last on me at all

  13. Hanna says:

How are the regular NYX eyeliner pencils. I have been looking for a regular white eyeliner that would stay on my waterline. They either have sparkles, or are cheap and dont stay. Are the NYX ones any good?

  14. Caroline Carnivorous says:

    Gorgeous, I want one!
I only have something that’s similar, but really cheap, so not good quality.. (Not that NYX is expensive)
But the shimmer in it REALLY shows up in the eyeshadow! >-< Does it do that with the NYX ones?
Oh, and do you know a place you could get them where they ship internationally? I live in Norway..

  15. Viola, Killer Colours says:

Even though I own a bunch of them I mostly use Milk (of course, what else?), Slate and Black Bean.

Black Bean is AWESOME as a base for messy dark eye looks, when you want it to look a bit greasy withough being too greasy you know. It’s so glossy, it litterally feels like lipstick. Haha.

  16. melissa says:

I love these pencils, i have the yogurt, rust and milk and have like 10 more on my wish list lol…just waiting for the right sale! Great Swatches I can never really get the full spectrim of the color from most sites so seeing like this gives me a better idea of some colors I dont have! Thanks Leesha!

  17. The OPI Junkie says:

    Hey Leesha,

I ordered some NYX stuff off that website and they arrived yesterday, Finally have Milk!!!! Can’t wait to test them out and stuff. Blogging is so much fun when new things arrive. x

  18. Sara says:

I LOVE Oyster…it’s a really neat pink/purple color that reminds me of the Urban Decay eyeshadow Asphyxia. Really pretty color.

  19. Kristina says:

I have been trying to get my hands on the purple for months … Ulta is always out when I go! Maybe have to order online.

  20. Carolina says:

I should be ashamed for not owning a single one of those jumbo pencils…but I can tell you wich one of above I would love to own instead :P Milk, of course, daah, then gold and purple, slate and lavender would be awesome ;)

  21. Inge says:

I love the NYX jumbo eyepencils, but what confuses me that some names are like actualeythe colour like hot pink, orange and purple or rrealey strange names like pots and pans or cottage cheese or yoghurt (witch is a peachy colour)
