New OCC Lip Tars for Spring/Summer 2011

A stunning new innovation in lip color, OCC Lip Tar combines the longevity of a lipstick, with the ease of application of a gloss. Goes on slick and moist, and dries down to a satin finish. Ultra-saturated in color, Lip Tar contains an unprecedented amount of pigment – a little goes a very, very long way! An intense yet featherweight layer of color that stands up to the scrutiny of Hi-Def Video and Digital Photography, without ever looking (or feeling!) heavy. Meant to be mixed, Lip Tar comes in concise array of colors for a limitless selection of shades made by you!

Like all of our products, OCC Lip Tar is 100% Vegan and Cruelty-Free, and is also free of parabens and other harsh preservatives. A simple, elegant formula that contains Hemp Oil, Peppermint Oil and Vitamin E, OCC Lip Tar feels as good on the lips as it looks!

DIRECTIONS: Apply the tiniest bead of Lip Tar with our #009 Angle Brush for complete, opaque coverage, either mixed with other shades or straight out of the tube. Applying too much product can result in feathering/bleeding so remember: a little goes a very, very long way!

I always love when new OCC Lip tars come out, they’re so fun and are definitely a must-have for any makeup artist’s kit. If you aren’t familiar with them, they are not just for applying straight to the lips, but for mixing too! For example, If you mix a speck of Lo-Fi with Reverb, you get a much more toned down red (as green and red cancel eachother out) It’s a fun way to practice color theory! :)

These are available from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics for $13 each.

The thing with these that they’re very drying. I can’t use them my lips get horribly chapped even with gloss on top. Tips anyone?

    • Me says:

Gloss isn’t hydrating either, so using gloss wouldn’t help that problem.. You just need to moisturize your lips before applying any product that would otherwise dry them out.

Apply lip moisturizer before doing any of your makeup so by the time it comes to doing your lips, it’s soaked in. Then apply the lip product of your choice.

Diet, water intake, and all of that factors in too, might not just be the lip product.

*drools* sooooooooo pretty!!!!! It kills me that I can’t get them here in Ireland. If I ever go to the States again I am buying make up by the bucketload heehee! :D x

depends on how much of each. if you added a touch of analogue to interlace it would definitely darken it a bit, but not too much

LOL! Bleeding= the lipstick feathering into the tiny fine lines around your mouth, so it isnt a perfect line around the edge or your lips, it looks, well, feathered out. Bleeding is just another word for it :)

I still haven’t taken the lip tar plunge, though I have been dying to. I guess I was like a year too late to the Konad nail thingy party, so might as well be late on these, too!

I’d love to know how Tone compares to Hush. I have hush but tone looks much more pink.
would you be able to swatch them side by side, or if you have a pic of hush?

    • Leesha says:

there is a link at the bottom of the post to a blog post with all the colors swatched :) Hush seems to be more deeper pink, less milky than tone.

You are not good for my wallet Leesha! I have to have Tone and Interlace. Do you know when these will be available? I looked to buy them yesterday and didn’t see them on the site yet.

I love how you can mix the colors to make new ones! I know you have done a video showing this before but another one showing us new combinations with the spring line would be awesome :)

I’m searching around the site and looking at your swacthes (awesome btw), and I’m having a hard time picking out some since they have their sale going on. For reference I’m NW15-NW20 (or sometimes NC15 to help with the red undertones). I already have Hush, Grandma, Anime, Tarred, Conquest, Memento, Fondue, and NSFW. Which do you think would be nice to add to these? I was eyeing Cha-Cha, Interlaced, Tone, Stalker, Trollip, and Harlot. I really love reds.. I lust over them, but I’m trying not to buy all since I don’t mix them often with each other. I was just looking for you suggestion.

    Thanks,
    Molly
