Nails of the Day: Illamasqua Gamma with OPI Blue Shatter

I really love the new blue shatter polish from OPI and have been using it all the time this week! I decided to try it with this neon orange creme called Gamma from Illamasqua because I hadn’t tried it out since I got it, and I love using complimentary colors together!

This is 2 coats of Gamma, 1 coat of Blue Shatter, and Seche Vite Top Coat.

The one thing I would change about this is to try and get a more opaque coat of blue, but I was afraid if I did it wouldn’t shatter as much (as with shatter polishes, the thinner the coat the more shatter action) because these are complimentary colors on the sheerer areas of blue it gives it almost a brownish tone which I don’t like. Other than that I really like the harsh differences between the color and textures of the polishes.

Our football teams are orange and blue. I know many women that would pay to get that done for game day.

I still think Barry M make the best crackle polishes on the market, I find all the other ones don’t crack as much as I would like.

I thought you couldnt put the shatter over any polish that wasnt in the collection because i have the black shatter and when i put it over a different cheap nail polish it just stays black.. so do i need a more expensive polish or??? help lol

i love this nail polish and have been looking for different color combos. This one is one of my favorites. I also like the light blue crackle with black polish underneath.

what i do is put a thick top coat between the two colors so that the orange doesnt affect the blue. ive actually gotten in the habit of doing this with all my crackle polishes and anything with colored shimmer or sparkles in a sheer/clear topcoat
