Lush Oatifix Fresh Face Mask Review

By  |  21 Comments

Last week I went to my Local Lush and sort of binged on their Fresh Face Masks.. I bought 5! :X This isn’t a practice I would normally do, nor do I recommend to the average customer, as their Fresh Face Masks (or FFM as I will call them for the rest of this review) are just that- FRESH, they need to be refrigerated and are only good for about 2 weeks after purchasing them (this is why you won’t find them on their website, only in real stores!) The reason I bought 5 is because I wanted to review them, and to be honest I wanted an excuse to try a good portion of them out, as I usually just stick to my favorites (Love Lettuce and Cupcake!)

After Love Lettuce and Cupcake, the next one I really wanted to try was Oatifix. I had never bought it before, but every time I had gone into Lush when I lived in Arizona I would always be tempted by it- it smells AMAZING! I finally gave in this week and tried it out :)

The consistency of this mask reminds me of grits, its goopy but has a fine texture. It smells AMAZING, almost edible! Like vanilla & banana oatmeal, even sweet like oatmeal cookies… mmmm :)

I like to be pretty generous when applying the FFMs because since they’re only good for about 2 weeks, there’s no point in trying to save any, you wanna get your moneys worth! (they actually used to sell these in a much bigger tub, which was nearly impossible to go through in the 2 week period. SO glad they started selling smaller quantities at a smaller price, too!) I love using these too because they have to be refrigerated, so they feel nice and refreshingly cool when you first put them on!
Since this mask is meant to moisturize, it won’t dry and tighten on your skin. It actually sort of feels like it’s going to drip off your face, but that’s how most moisturizing masks are :)

This mask stays on for 5-10 minutes, and then you rinse with warm water. Since their are all those little oat pieces, this mask is actually a really nice exfoliant when you’re washing it off! My skin was left nice and soft and feeling nicely moisturized, not greasy with too much moisture, which is so nice!

If you have dry/sensitive skin and live by a Lush store, you have to pick this up. I promise you’ll enjoy it! And at only $6 for a tub, it’s totally worth it!

Sounds great, but is the banana an obvious, strong scent? I am not a fan of it but love the idea of honey and oats :-)

the body shop sells a mask similar to the one you mentioned above. its ingredients are honey and oat, it looks almost the same as the lush one. it moisturises your skin and after washing it off your skin looks really healthy and rosy!

A friend bought one of these for me, but it was completely wrong for my skin type. I had a special party that night, so I used it on my legs after shaving them. Even though its a small tub, it covered both legs. My legs felt DIVINE afterwards!!

This mask does smell amazing! Almost good enough to eat. But I had trouble getting it off my skin. It was a bit thick and didn’t rinse off easily. For that reason, I wouldn’t buy it again. My favorites are cupcake and brazened honey.

This smells exactly like Banana Nut Bread! I’m not convinced that masks really do anything past maybe the day after using them (except peels and the like) but this one certainly is nice to use!

Did you try using your face mask with a toner tab? They are outrageous! totally open up your pores before you put the mask on and really gives you that whole spa treatment!

this mask has a great smell but unfortunally I can’t use it because I have oily skin :( here in italy we have different names so mmm I use the chocolate one or the exfoliating green one… cosmetic warrior stinks too much so no thanks, and the berry one is very fresh! I take them in the freezer so they live longer and take them for free if I return 5 empty black boxes ^^

Bought one today, the consistancy just wasn’t the same from the picture in yours and mine. Mine was much more dense and thick. It reminded me almost of like… moon sand consistency lol. I wish it was more goopy like yours.

I tried the oatifix and it felt tingly and caused my skin to become irritated and break out in red bumps. it may be too coarse for my skin. What is their return policy? Its been an hour and my face is still burning and itching.

This is the only face mask I’ve used (so far) from Lush. I have dry skin and LOVE this mask. I’m allergic to fruit (Yep all of it but it’s ok….i’m more of a veggie girl) so the bananas did make my face feel pretty darn itchy and my face was red after BUT the mask made my face feel so moisturized afterward that I didn’t even need to apply my moisturizer!! I was STUNNED! I have bought this several times since, allergies and all. It’s that good! :)
