Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Palette Review + Swatches
It’s no secret that I love me some bright, beautifully colorful eyeshadows. I’m like a moth to a flame when it comes to color, and this palette is pretty much the epitome of rainbow realness.
This palette contains 24 eyeshadows that include enough colors to create just about any look possible. The best part of this to me is that not only does it include a rainbow of shades, but also covers neutrals and a white and black shade, so it turns out to be an incredibly well rounded palette. The textures in this palette are nice and versatile as well, including mattes, shimmers, and micro glitter. I found the shades were easy to work with, and the pigmentation on most of these was fantastic!
While this palette is beautiful, there are some negatives.
The down sides about the Mi Vida Loca palette for me- The packaging. I know that Kat wanted to channel a record with this palette, and I can definitely see the inspiration. The shadows are arranged in a circle pattern, and the shadows slide in and out from the “sleeve”, just like a record. This is a neat idea in theory, but I don’t think it translates well for makeup. The shadows slide right out of the packaging if you turn it the wrong way, and theres no way to stop it. It’s also HUGE. It’s the size of an actual record, and that makes it difficult to store it anywhere other than on display on your makeup table.
Bottom line, I wish she chose to have traditional packaging, as this would be at least half the size and would be easier to use.
I also wish there was a true red. The closest color is Destroyer, which is more of a hot pink than a red. This palette has just about every other shade of the rainbow, but I am really missing a true, gorgeous red.
Now with that being said, here are photos and swatches!
