Kat Von D High Voltage Nail Laquer- No Regrets, Mad Max, Wonderchild

A few weeks back, I was browsing the Sephora site and saw that Kat Von D had some new nail polishes coming out. They looked AWESOME- very holographic and fancy! I bought them before the yellow was in stock so I don’t have that to show you today, but here are the purple, pink, and blue shades!

On the Sephora website, these polishes are described as “High quality, richly pigmented formulas will catch all eyes in the room with their bright, ultra-reflective shine. Infused with tiny particles of shattered glass, these are the boldest and shiniest polishes you’ll find” From that description, and the main photo being of Wonderchild with an amazing holographic/duo chrome vibe going on, I was beyond excited to try these out. They really sounded different from most polishes!
I don’t know if you can tell (or agree) from the swatches, but all the pretty, holographic, spacey vibe these polishes have is left in the bottle. They are pretty colors on the nails, don’t get me wrong, but the reason I bought them, that duo chrome shift, doesn’t transfer when applied to the nails. This totally bums me out! No Regrets has a slight purple duo chrome that you can see in the photo, but Mad Max is really sheer (thats three coats and you can still see my nail) and Wonderchild has a bit of a deeper violet shift, but none of that orangey yellow you can see in the bottle photo.
Overall, yes, they are pretty and shiny and nice nail polishes, but they didn’t deliver for me on the sole reason I bought them. womp!

Available for $12.50 each from Sephora.

You can kind of see the holo in the blue on your nail… but I just think that purple is pretty with or without holo. I’m sure I could get a similar color for less than $12.50 though so I have no need to buy it.

I read on Scrangie’s blog that they weren’t so duochrome-y… but I got Mad Max anyway because I already had fairly close dupes of the other three (at least close enough for me). They’re all still really pretty!

the second two look like they could be dupes for orlys cosmic fx collection?same idea, glass flecks and all that.on your nail it looks like halleys comet which I have and maybe galaxy girl?

    • Keekers

out of this world, not galaxy girl for the purple*

Shame they didn’t so what they were supposed to, but I still think they’re gorgeous! If I had the money, I’d buy the blue and purple in a heartbeat!

I got “No Regrets” … and yes, it’s beautiful!

These remind me of colors from the UD Summer of Love polish line – Aquarius and …the purple one I can’t remember the name. I love Kat Von D’s line of products thus far but Im not very excited about the polishes.

I hope you get the yellow one to show us. That’s the one that caught my eye. But the price put me off.

Hm, Wonderchild kinda reminds me of Nails Inc’s Franklins Row (though it’s got a bit more blue to it)
