January 2012 Makeup Collection & Organization Tips

Hi!

Okay, so this video went up last week, I just didn’t post it here because I wanted to include photos of my dresser drawers full of makeup. This got postponed because with my mom visiting all last weekend, we did a major overhaul of my apartment and I moved a lot of makeup that had been hiding in my closet out into the dresser so that I would stop forgetting about it and use it!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I’ll *try* and get shade names for you, but depending on when you ask (and the state of organization at the moment) I can guarantee I’ll know!

You are so beautiful. I also have been a loyal fan ever since you started on youtube. You are the person that helped me get in to make up. Now (thanks to you) I have been looking into Hollywood make up artist. I hope to be a horror movie make up artist. Thank you are for making the videos and posting. You helped me out a lot.

hey Leesha since you are talking about your collection I wanted to recommend an eye liner to you! it is sephora’s Smokey cream liner, it is so amazing! They remind me of Stila’s sparkle liners ( how they are sparkly and DO NOT smudge) but it is in a pot! I highly recommend because they are only $10 and half the price of Stila’s liners! Hope you try them! :)

I feel bad that i missed this video but oh god i know almost all the products by packaging alone~ I feel like a Makeup nerd.

Why dont we name a product each week based on categories (eyeshadows, lipsticks etc) and you pick it by random machine and you will be FORCE TO USE THEM for a tutorial.. Good idea to dig in those forgotten products!

You have a great collection (I am VERY jealous)! I am starting makeup school in a little over a week and I just LOVE watching your videos! :) Maybe one day I’ll have a collection worthy of a video like yours haha

Oh dear lord! I am so jealous!! One thing I do when organizing my things is have them all separated by type and color etc. but I also take things that I use on a day-to-day basis and make that it’s own little section so I don’t have to dig throughout numerous drawers to find them. I also sometimes do this when I have a set makeup idea for some day (ex. winged eyeliner with dramatic lips) so it’s easy to find.

And this doesn’t have to do with cost or ‘you spend too much blah blah I’m jealous’, but I was just wondering how often companies send you things, because I know from various open-box videos that they send you a ton, I’m just wondering how often and do they let you know before they send it / can you request things? Just curiosity! :)

it really depends on the brand. every brand is different- some brands send pieces from new collections without letting me know, some send PR emails and you have to request product. Every brand has a different way of going about releasing product samples to press, so its hard to give a definitive answer there! :)

I absolutely love how you have organized everything, it looks amazing. I wish we had those containers here in Norway, acrylic storage is almost impossible to find here and Ebay is crazy expensive. Do you know of any websites that sell acrylic organizers that offer international shipping? :) Xo Christine

  8. Elizabeth says:

Could you tell me where you got the container you keep your pigments in? I immediately searched The Container Store’s website, but didn’t have any luck. A tip in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have any e.l.f. products that they really like? trying to find new things to try out. thanks!

    • Katrina says:

I really like e.l.f.’s eyeshadow palettes. I bought one from Target when they were advertising and it’s been very good to me.

You’re my idol!! <3 I love all your videos, and literally as soon as you give a product a good review, it goes on my Want list. I really trust your review to be honest and unbaised, which is why I buy pretty much everything you give a great review to.

  11. Kristen says:

So I showed this to my husband to show him how tame my make up collection really is. :) He told me in return that I need to cut my hair like yours.

I love watching make up collection and organisation videos. I also have a huge collection, but sadly mine is all over the place because I don’t have one big chest to keep them all in. Or rather I would if I had half the amount of clothes I own, lol. You have really good ideas for storage and a fantastic collection!

Also, can you tell me what nail polish you’re wearing? It’s such a pretty colour.

    Thanks. xxx

I honestly expected you to have more cosmetics. Either way, I don’t think you have too much at all.

I do have a question. Seeing your Zpalette reminded me. I have an 88 palette (Morphe, Coastal Scents, BH, they all sell the same palette) and it broke and a few shadows keep coming out. I want to depot them and put them in something else. Do you think there are any palettes that would hold all 88 shadows? Or like 2 palettes without too much left over space?

And have you gone to The Make Show? If you have, is it worth it or should I just save for IMATS instead?

And I lied, one more question. Do you know where I can get one of those nail polish racks that mounts on the wall? You’d think as a cosmetologist I’d know where to get these things, but I don’t. Never even seen them at nail shows.

  14. Hanna says:

Just wondering, do you throw away any of your makeup? For example, you’re apparently suppose to get rid of mascara after 3 months of use…. but I keep mine waaaay longer than that.

  15. Simone says:

do you still remember the day when you had a mini collection? i am at that day. but i shall have a big collection some day. i’m super keen to get into a special effects job for movies now
