I Need Your Input!!

By  |  266 Comments

Hi!

I’ve been MIA this week due to the fact that my mom came to visit :) It’s been really nice having her here, I haven’t seen her since Christmas, probably the longest amount of time not seeing her!

I wanted to ask you guys for some input on my blog and videos. Obviously the videos and blog posts are meant to be helpful, and I’m just curious for some feedback from you! :) I want my blog and videos to be as helpful and informative as they can be, and since you, the readers and viewers, are what make xSparkage popular, I would love to know what types of videos and posts you’d be most interested in seeing here, and how I can improve my current ones!

Some things I’m really curious about:

  • Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again? (This is probably the most questioned practice I do- and the main reason was always because I wanted to push the idea of “use what you have”, but I feel like it makes more people upset than stating name-brands.)
  • What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
  • Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
  • Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
  • Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
  • Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
  • Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
  • Any other suggestions?

Don’t feel the need to answer all the questions, if you have input for even one, thank you!! I really appreciate your feedback, as you guys are what make xSparkage what it is and your opinion on the content is really important to me.

I’ll get back to regular posts tomorrow. Thanks guys, hope you’re having a great weekend!

Please, please, please start saying names again. It’s incredibly helpful to those of us who don’t have anything like what you’re showing.

I definitely enjoyed the Tutorial Series you had! They’re a lot of fun and it’s something to look forward to. I’m okay with you not specifying the products you’re using, but I do understand how it would be frustrating for some. I like reviews and tutorials. Hauls are nice sometimes too. :)

Saying names I quite enjoy, because then I know what might be similar or if i have the product already. And I like the serieseses too haha x

I don’t think you should say product names, for one it’ll get you more blog views and secondly, it shows people that they can use any brand or colour variation.
I love to see tutorials a swatches the most and I love tutorial series’ (espesh WW and FF)
Maybe you could do one of the series ideas from your poll, school cliques, eras, high fashion etc
I don’t mind about interactive posts although I do like this one :)
I think your swatches and reviews are perfectly in depth enough, maybe to give you more videos/posts you could use the product you swatched/reviewed in a look

Overall, I would love it if you brought a series back, I love looking forward to your tutorials, I think they’re what you’re best at and you’re lovely to watch :)

I personally don’t mind about brand names, but I can understand why people would. Perhaps instead of listing just the one you used you could list a selection of brands with similar colours. This would get too time consuming for your vids, but perhaps something to consider for the blog posts?

I also really enjoyed the WW you did toning down Katy Perry’s makeup and I would love to see more like that! I love some of the looks you get to see in films and music vids but they’re just not practical for every day! Toned down versions would be fantastic :)

I miss your first impressions vids

I really wish you would say names cause even if I cant have that exact product I can refer to it while buying other ones. For example in Sephora I can pick up a NARS shadow and relate it to a sephora shadow. I love the series. I love when you talk about products, like your first reactions and all your tutorials are informative. You are still my favorite guru. So you need to change too much cause youre doing a fabulous job.

I would love to see in depth reviews on whether the product lives up to the hype, on if it’s worth the money.

the product names were easier because then we could get an idea of the proper colours :)
    i LOVED the series :)
and more in depth swatches etc :)

    you rock Leesha <3

It doesn’t bother me at all that you don’t say product names. If I’m curious about something, I look on your blog. Easy peasy.

I LOVE tutorial series. The Greek gods/goddesses basically made my life complete. As did the candy series. I also like Wearable Wednesday/ Fierce Friday, which you’d mentioned going back to before.

I think your swatches are lovely. If you were going to revamp your style, I would like to see more reports on how things wear in your reviews (not first impressions, obviously), such as if you noticed any creasing in eyeshadows or how the lipsticks fade over time. But I really have no problem with everything staying as is.

Basically, whatever you do I’ll read/ watch! haha

I do really like the series that you do, I like seeing your interpretaions of the themes.
Also, If you were to do more swatches of products on your face (or wherever they are applied) that would be much more useful I think.

I love your tutorials and reviews, keep doing what you do! x

    * Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
NO! Don’t say the names, people need to learn to be creative. :P
    * What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
I like your bolder looks, that’s what I subbed to you for.
    * Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
    Fierce Friday, Wearable Wednesday!
    * Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
They’re alright. I like when you just did fierce friday and wearable wednesday.
    * Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
Disney Movie inspired… not just princesses. Like Finding Nemo… Aristocats? IT’D BE GREAT!
    * Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
    I like guest looks. :)
    * Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
I think they’re good as they are. Once again, I follow your blog for your looks, not for your swatching. Love that you do give us swatches, but that’s not why I watch your videos or read your blogs, I sub because I love how creative your looks are.
    * Any other suggestions?
No suggestions, I think you’re perfect as you are! :)

i defnitely think you should say the product names. I personally like to know whats being used because if its something I want to purchase I will spend a long time searching out what has been used if its not said or listed and its so much nicer to have it stated. If people don’t realize by now that you are not pushing products on them they must not be paying attention. Personally if I didn’t care to know product names, it wouldn’t bother me if you said them anyway. I wouldn’t feel as if you were saying ‘use this, you must!’ I would realize that the video is made for a wide range of viewers, some of who like to know what is being used, and get on with it.

I agree about the fact you try and emphasize to use what you have, but I think if you describe the color (ex. pink with a purple sheen) and then say “I’m using stars and rockets, but wet and wild has a good dupe”
Also, my favorite is your first impressions vids! I love how we get your honest opinion… I also would love to see how to work with neons :P you should do a neon series!

    April 17, 2011 at 5:05 pm

To start with, I love your videos- so thank you for spending the time to make them.
Personally, I do prefer it when you mention the product’s names as it’s a great way for us to find new brands and colours, but if you don’t, they’re all still posted on your blog for us anyway.
My favourite videos from you are definitely your tutorials, especially your tutorial series, which I miss and would really like to make a comeback! TV shows like the Glee cast videos were great, so maybe some more shows?
That’s all I can say really, other than a big thank you for your inspiring and hard work! <3

You could stick to not saying the brand names but leave a list of products on your blog AND the youtube videos, so that people can refer :) preferably in order of usage too.

I love your tutorials the most, and i definitely miss them. Its what made me subscribe to you in the first place, when i first caught your disney character tutes :)

I looooove love love the tutorial series! I think you should do a fierce fridays for greek goddesses now! deefinitely more fun to play around with than candy, imho. also wearable wednesdays are good too :D
but if you find your schedule getting too hectic, maybe you could switch it up a bit? one wearable look a week, then a fierce look in the next week, and then wearable again, etcetc. alternate weeks :) just a suggestion!

  16. Brianna

    April 17, 2011 at 5:06 pm

I really liked it when you had a schedule cause then i knew what to look for. i also liked when you did like the series, i like way back when you did the Disney princesses, the zodiac signs, the super hero’s…. i think you should do something like that again… my favorites are the tutorials the best, i mean i like the product reviews but tutorials are my favorite:)

    – i liked when you said names of products. Its so helpful if you see something you love in a video and wantt o buy it. Its amazing to have that information available to you!!

    – I did not like the series you did. The looks were fun but not really realistic to wear so for me personally i lost interest by mid way through the series

    – i would love to see you do more wearable looks. I get that you like colourful things. But when you have simple make up you look flawless.. and some of us cant achieve those looks so tips on minimal makeup would be fun

-i miss your makeup tips even if its simple things they are fun

-I love your what i love each month posts!! we watch your videos because we trust your opinion!! maybe some videos of holly grail products from time to time. Things you use but are not mentioned in your monthly videos because you constantly love it..

    – I also really enjoy skin/hair and other things that aren’t necessarily makeup related. Your skin is looking so good. But you seem to change up your favorite face/hair products so maybe let us know your current routine and when you change it up? update us. on products you tried and hated or tried and loved.

    – interactive posts would be amazing!!! answering peoples real life beauty questions/ problems!! that is exciting!!!

    April 17, 2011 at 5:08 pm

Please, please, please do NOT start saying the brand names again. It’s a delight watching you’re videos without the “and this is MAC sjklfkds, oh no wait, I’m gonne use that one, oh, and the name of this is blablabla”. If people are new to make up they can easily check your blog for input. And personnally I like being able do go with what I have, and I’m really not bright enough to remind myself of that..

If you enjoy doing tutorial series, they’re great, and you should definitly do more, but if they’re not amuzing to you, they’re not going to be fun for us either.

I like when you do mention product names, as I have purchased some items you specifically mentioned and they were great.
When you do your monthly “Favorites” I think that is always helpful
The white swan, and such themes are great for helping to create specific looks. I am looking forward to next Christmas for when I can wear the candy can eye theme you spotlighted.
I always appreciate the time, research and honesty you put into the information share.

I don’t mind you not specifying the exact product you use, as long as you’re describing the color. I really miss your WW and FF. I remember back when you had the poll to decide which series to do, one of the choices was editorial or runway looks. I would really love to see that!

  22. Lexi

    April 17, 2011 at 5:10 pm

I would love it if you’d start saying product names again. There are products you use sometimes that I think are gorgeous that I want to buy. I end up having to do a Google search on the whole list of products you have on the page to find which one it was I liked.

It can be quite time consuming, especially when the look involves a multitude of eye products like the Peacock look. I think I spent a good 5 – 10 minutes looking at Google for swatches of the products you listed.

I’m not much of a video watcher, so maybe my opinions don’t count. I think product names might be helpful, though, as sometimes blending can make a product look very different than its original state. This way people can look up swatches of what you used and then find something that will work in their own stash. I know more than once I’ll think something is one color and then find out it’s something else (for instance I’ll see a dark green, but it was really black) As for myself, I love your reviews and swatches most.

I don’t think you need to say the names of the products, or just list them in writing (which i think you already do).

I like fierce fridays and swatch/reviews.

The only ones i don’t really like are less beauty related reviews like soaps. Especially since that comes down to smell which we can’t experience over the internet and is very subjective.

    • Rachel

      April 17, 2011 at 10:53 pm

I definitely agree with your last point! I usually skip over the soaps/lotions/Lush videos because I’m bad at imagining scents based on a description. Still waiting on Smellovision!

I SO miss your saying the names of the brands and colors you’re using. I’m shocked at the number of people who don’t want you to start saying them again. I hate constantly having to pause the videos to toggle back and forth so I can see which product you’re using.

That being said, I still love your videos. You’ve inspired me so much! Especially your wearable wednesday posts. I find myself going back to a lot of your old WW videos and rewatching them.

    April 17, 2011 at 5:18 pm

I don’t think you should start saying the brand names IN THE VIDEOS. I really like the idea that you don’t have to use that exact product, and some people get reeeeeally pissy about that. And for those that DO want to know the name brands, you ALWAYS have the products here on your blog, so…if they really want to know, then they can just come here. I’ve always thought this was a nice compromise!

My favorite types currently are neutral looks, but still glamorous…if that makes sense.

I really do enjoy tutorial series! I’d enjoy seeing perhaps a rainbow series, or maybe a Candy Land (just because I love that game)!

More interactive posts would be amazing. In depth post would be good too. I like to know people opinion on a products and the texture and all that good stuff!

Keep up the great work! :D

1: I think no matter what you do ppl will complain about what products you are using. However, maybe you can say in the video, “I am using the products I have and you should use the products you have,” but don’t say name brands outloud and still write them in the description.

2: My fave types of posts on this blog are reviews and swatches of products. My fave types of videos are make up tutorials.

3:I really like it when you do series based on movies. I loved your Disney series and I loved your Harry Potter series. I kinda miss seeing Disney make up tutorials but you already did it! lol xD

4: I definitely enjoy the concept of a tutorial series bc it gives the viewers something to expect and look forward to. And I find that they teach me how to get inspiration from a certain theme and do something as creative as make up with it! =)

5: Hmm… Well One of my fave make up tutorials of yours was when you did the White Swan Make up look. I really love it when you do movies, so maybe you can do another movie themed series or maybe about a certain television show. Oh but I am also very intrigued with the idea of really learning anything and everything that I can about make up so maybe you can do a series about Learning certain tips and tricks. Something like “Make up tip Tuesday” lol

6: Well yes more interactive posts is a great suggestion bc I am very curious about what products are good and what aren’t so I really enjoy reviews and would like to see more. I also love your guest looks it’s an original idea that makes your site different from others and it’s fun to see. =)

7: Yes actually. I would really like for your reviews to really be as detailed as they can possibly be with comparisons and dupes mentioned. With things from texture description to smells, to pictures, etc. Although you already do a great job of that and your reviews are very informative.

8: Well, I think you are a great make up artists with awesome videos and a cool site to go with it. You’re like a whole package and I do feel as if you are trying very hard to give us viewers and readers what we want. If i was to suggest anything more it would simply be to post make up tutorials more frequently which I think a series would be able to inspire you to do that. =)
These are all just my silly little suggestions. Thank you for your time Leesha! :D

I really like guest looks, or even re-dos of your looks in a slightly different way (like the peacock garden guest look)
I think listing products on your blog is sufficient, maybe describe the color in the video in case its not showing up (teal with pink flash, black with purple glitter, etc)
I love monthly favorites, and when you do product explanations (like the dinair, or the origins vitazing) and first impressions are good too.

I would love makeup tip videos again too, like about basics like contouring (how to pick a color, should it be shimmery, best way to apply) or even your makeup removal routine (I would so appreciate tips on removing mascara I suck at it lol)

    Thanks, love your videos!

    YES!
Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?

    * Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
I think it’s helpful to say them because it’s true that some people just can’t figure out a dupe on their own. However, I personally never even noticed you didn’t say names on the videos because I just enjoyed the color :] Plus, you post the product on your blog and therefore they can find where it is. So, I say leave it out.
    * What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
Definitely the more fierce looks. You’re my favorite person for coming up with edgy looks that don’t exactly look unwearable. Also, I’m a fan of swatches as it helps me out. :]
    * Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
WW and FF. So glad you’re thinking of bringing them back!
    * Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
I loved those! They were fun. :]
    * Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
Agreed that Disney movies (as recommended by another) could be very cool.
    * Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
I think you do a good job with that right now! I enjoy beauty q&a though.
    * Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
You do a good job with them! I agree that maybe an update after wear on the post to say if it was creasing or didn’t last. That’s a major problem people have.
    * Any other suggestions?
Keep up the good work! It’s nice to see a guru actually asking the audience for input and taking it all into consideration.

I love the series you do – fierce friday is my favourite to gain inspiration and I love your bold looks! I like it when you say the product name, because it means that if I go shopping for products I can think oh I saw this and it looked good etc… But I understand why you might not – but I liked it when you mentioned products more informally than a review?
I love your videos either way though :)

  35. Krystal

    April 17, 2011 at 5:31 pm

I liked you saying the names, but it isn’t a big deal to me because they are posted on your blog, so I can just go check.
I think my favorite videos are the tutorials. more more more!!! i like favorites videos tooo.
I missed the Fierce Friday and Wearable Wednesday.. but it looks like your bringing that back! :) And i miss how much MAC you used to use! lol. it’s my favorite.
Yes, I like the tutorial series! :) you should do something fun and springy! like flowers! :)
OH, and I really liked the Ask Leesha videos! :)
Yea, I think I would like the reviews to be a bit more, sometimes I feel like the reviews are just an overview of the product, not pros/cons and what you think of it. But your swatches are great!

  36. Tee

    April 17, 2011 at 5:31 pm

I liked when you said product names. Sometimes the colors get distorted on camera, so it’s a lot easier to find a dupe if you say Amber Lights by MAC instead of just holding the shadow up. Or if you don’t want to say the specific name/brand, maybe you could say different brands that have the same (or similar) color? It’s not necessarily a matter of being lazy or not using what you have, because I don’t think the vast majority of your viewers are going to go out and buy every single product you used in a look just to recreate it, but sometimes there’s a product you use that someone really likes and might want to buy so it’s helpful to have that information right there in the video.

I loved all the series you did! It would be cool if you did a drugstore series next and did the same look twice, once using higher end makeup and then using drugstore makeup. Your tutorials are definitely my favorite videos so I would love to see more of those!

I love tutorials. I also love that you’ll say things like ‘use a bright blue’ as opposed to Inglot 70 (as an example).

I’ll read no matter what, but that’s what I think.

  38. Candy

    April 17, 2011 at 5:33 pm

I loved when you used to say what the products were. It helped me shop when I liked a certain shade you used.

Also, I liked it when you did the Series videos. All I can think of right now as suggestions are Beatles songs/references (ex. Blue Meanie, Yellow Submarine, Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, etc.) and anime or 90’s cartoons versions. XD Japanese fashion versions would be unique, too (ex. Gothic Lolita, Decora, Harajuku style).

What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see? i love love love the reviews and the kind of out there looks you do

Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? yes

Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing? disney characters maybe but not just the normal character like the different characters people usually wouldnt think of doing.. that would be pretty cool

Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth? i love when you do reviews more of those would be great :)

Leesha, I would like you to be more… fierce on fierce fridays and special themed looks. Like, not only do the eyes, but perhaps the whole face. And also, what happened to all your old blog posts? I was looking for your coastal scents lip smacks swatches, but they were gone!
    Please bring them back.

i like all videos haha sorry if it wasnt so helpfull
    * Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
hmm the first impressions, also the series!
    * Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
    i LOOOVED the series!!
    * Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
sure! a great idea is to have an animal series not jungle type just dogs or cats!
    * Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
    beauty Q&A guest looks too
    * Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
your reviews and swatches are excellet the way they are, you could work nore in discribing the colors a little more, just a bit.
    * Any other suggestions?
you could do a weekly series of new products on the market and your critical opinion about it if you think its gonna be good or bad if you would buy it or not and if it’s worth the money also more skincare reviews and videos \o\

    * Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
I personally don’t mind if you say names or not because I just use what I have to recreate the looks anyway.
    * What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
I like makeup tutorials and reviews. I am crazy about skincare, body care (except FCS because I really enjoy those videos for some reason) etc. videos.
    * Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
I think that your videos have been the same since I subscribed (years ago!) Unrelated, but I would love to see more discodollies videos :D
    * Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
I love when you do series videos!
    * Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
We have a lot of the same interests I have noticed, so basically if you did a series on any show, book, or movie that inspires you, I would like it. : )
    * Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
    I like guest looks.
    * Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
I think they are already pretty in depth, so no.

I think people also get upset when you dont use drugstore, there always like “WELL NOT EVERYONE CAN AFFORD MAC LEEESHHAAA” God, haha, I think you should (If at all) list the products in the description instead of saying them in the video, I like the whole “It doesn’t matter what I use, just use what you have”

And I’ve asked you a million times, but can you PLEASE do a dramatic look that stands out behind glasses…something different? PLEASE
    xo

What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see? Reviews for posts, looks for videos. Also first impressions!

Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews) I would love beauty Q&A!

Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth? Maybe a bit more in depth, but your swatches are always accurate, and that’s what counts!

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
To me it doesn’t really matter because you post the products on your blog.

What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
    Wearable Wednesday and Fierce Fridays

Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
    Series

Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
    YES!

Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
Sucker Punch, probably like the third time I said it hahaha but someone suggested you do it on one of your videos and I think it would be awesome! I think Children’s books or Fairytales would be awesome too.

Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
polls are cool when your decided what series to pick, I really like Ask Leesha too.

Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
    Yeah especially skin care ones.

    Any other suggestions?
Nope I think your video are great, can’t wait until your start posting them regularly again!

I am not a guru and I absolutely LOVE the tutorials and basically ALL your videos! The hauls or product reviews are great too! Makeup is like a foreign language, to me at least. Since I try to use more makeup the only thing is, is there a difference from using one pigment just because its a different name brand? If I use an eye primer will Maybelines lime green come off as colorful as Macs? I am going to guess a good half of your viewers might not be able to afford higher cost name brands… that is unless the tutorial look you are showing won’t work using a cheaper product. Since I’m no makeup expert I tend to take your tutorials and other makeup guru’s tutorials to heart. So, I guess if you could name name brands it would help the subbies pick the right “quality” products and not be distraut the product they own or use doesn’t work as well for them .

It’s awesome that you’re open to input! Very cool of you. I don’t mind answering them all if it helps you out!

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
    – Yes, it doesn’t make me feel like I need to go buy all the makeup you use; if you use something that I absolutely LOVE I’d like to know the name so I could get it too. Also, if you say the name I might already have it, or a dupe.

What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
    – Bright looks are my favourite. Especially Sugarpill ones, I just love that brand. I also love your review and comparison vids because I take your opinion seriously when purchasing beauty products.

Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
    – Fierce Friday.

Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
    – Yes, they’re very interesting! I know if it were me it would force me to be on a schedule, and also the research into each character, etc. would maybe inspire you to use color combos or products you hadn’t thought of using before.

Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
    – Anything bright, like the candy series. Maybe My Little Pony or something would be cute. I’d love to see a liquid foundations comparison (high end and drugstore).

Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
    – I like the guest looks, but mostly I’m interested in hearing from you :)

Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
    – I think you do a good job the way they are.

    Any other suggestions?
    – Just to see more tutorials on bright looks. Other than that, keep doing what your doing! You’re great at it.

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again? – I think you should but along with drugstore dupes or cheaper dupes would be nice this way you wont get all the negative comments.

What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?- Product reviews

Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?- You did a konad tutorial once its would be fun to see some more of those.

Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)- if they are done back to back or else i tend to forget about them.

Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?- Summer looks, spring looks, school looks

Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)- yes its always fun or maybe some collaborations.

Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth? – yes like for eye shadows its nice to see them wet dry with a base on the eyes

Any other suggestions?- continue being awesome.

    April 17, 2011 at 5:47 pm

I personally don’t mind that you state product names. Hearing you say what you used for something has actually introduced me to some great makeup brands. But of course it’s not a problem for you to not say them, as long as I can see what they are here in your blog.

And I enjoy the tutorial series you used to do. Primarily, I think it would be great for Wearable Wednesday and Fierce Friday to come back, since watching those is what taught me the skills to do my makeup good. Plus the Fierce Fridays are just fun. :) Tutorials are probably my favorite posts/videos that you do, along with product reviews.

You’ll always be my fav guru whatever you change tho lol!

    April 17, 2011 at 5:47 pm

I liked it more when you would say the product names. Also I guess is more of something that I don’t like when other guru’s do. Voice Overs. I like when I can actually hear you enjoying what you’re doing instead of a like monotone voice. That I think is the number one thing I like about your videos the most.

    • Carolyn

      April 17, 2011 at 6:01 pm

Yes I agree, no voice overs please!!

beauty question and answers would be amazing!! i really miss those videos.. also first impression videos are really fun to watch and are really helpful.. and PLEASE start saying product names in the videos again! that way if i see a product that your using and i realy like it i could go out and buy it without having to check a different website.. also I have to say that leesha, you are my favorite makeup guru on youtube! you always have the most amazing makeup tutorials and i realy get inspiration from them!
k so have a great day! hope you take my suggestions to heart :)

  54. Isabel

    April 17, 2011 at 5:53 pm

Personally, I would prefer if you say the brand name, but it’s not that important to me…
I really really liked the First Impression videos you used to do when you would review drugstore products-I found those fun to watch and the results were always interesting! I also liked the Battle of the Brands video you did-that was informative and I would like to see your take on other products..
Tutorial series are always great to watch! My favorite ones were the Disney princesses and the Greek goddesses! Oh, and the horoscope ones! I think it’s cool to have a common theme and then make various looks relating to the theme, and the looks always are amazing!
A suggestion for a series: maybe you could use the makeup looks different designers use on their models for fashion weeks? It’d be cool to see how the designers’ style differs and your take on the look.

    * Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
Too be honest I dont mind! I check out your blog for the info anyway. Whatever is easier for you :)

    * What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
I love your standard tutorials!! LOVE LOVE LOVE Sometimes your product videos are irrelevent to me because I’m from the UK and some things aren’t available here :)

    * Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
No. I love all your videos

    * Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
YES YES YES! Love them. I think it lets you get out your crazy creativity. You are so talented with bolder and dramatic looks

    * Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
Make up through the decades perhaps? I’m crap at making things up

    * Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
    Sure why not :)

    * Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
I like them the way they are… but a more in-depth review wouldn’t hurt :)

    – I’m not a difficult person so it’s okay for me if you say products names or not. Maybe you can juste say the names and describe the color as you can, so that both sides would be happy? Plus, I don’t really understand why people get upset as if they REALLY want to know the name of a specific product, thay can just read the related blog post right? It will take them 30 seconds -_-.

    – My favourite type of videos are, of course, tutorials. For blog posts, I like pretty much like all of them but product reviews are cool. =D

    – I like series.

    – So, yes ^^. A planets series seems really interesting (ok I cheated on this one thanks Genevieve =D)

    – More interactive posts? If you want… I guess it will be nice if you post some of your viewers reproductions of your make up.

    – More in depth? I don’t know what you can do/say more. But if you can I’m okay! =)

For me, you’re seriously the best make-up guru! You really are my favourite I’m so excited when I see I new video =D So, stay the same! Love you =).

  57. Sarah

    April 17, 2011 at 5:58 pm

I like when youtubers mention product names in the video just for reference, but if you like, you could have a disclaimer saying “you dont have to stick to the brands i use, you can use any other brand you like”.

My favourite posts on your website are your swatches, I’m not sure why, but I love it when you show what the products look like when out of the packaging!

My favourite videos you make are definitely your wearable wednesdays and fierce fridays (i also love when you do theme series (like the disney princesses theme and greek gods etc.) and reviews!

As I mentioned ^^ I love love love tutorial series!

For different series, I’d like to see maybe a flower series (iris, orchid etc), or maybe a “nature” series where you take ideas from nature and put them into makeup looks!

    Polls are always fun!

Just keep up the amazing work Leesha!
    xo

I think it’s ridiculous that people are upset about not hearing product names. They’re just whiny. They obviously didn’t read the descriptions in your videos. Keep doing what you’re doing. People really need to learn to read the description.

I like the tutorials series. Maybe you could do a video game series! (Zelda, Peach, Samus looks, etc) would be nice for us girl gamers :)

I miss wearable wednesday and fierce friday, but you’re getting back into that.

And other than that do what you think you should do.

DUPES! YOU ALWAYS USE AWESOME PRODUCTS BUT THEYRE AOMETIMES UNAVAILABLE TO SOME VIEWERS….SO I’D LOVE TO SEE MORE DUPES!

    • Janine

      April 17, 2011 at 9:16 pm

I agree, I’d like to see some more dupes as I live in the UK and can’t always get the brands you use (although I wish I did). I’d also love to see reviews of some of the cheaper brands too, are they worth getting or is it better to stick to the pricier brands in the end.

  60. Chelsea

    April 17, 2011 at 6:02 pm

I personally prefer you NOT saying product names. I’d rather just look at what you hold up to the camera and find something similar. Plus, you post the products on your blog, so if people desperately need to get exactly what you use, it’s not like it’s a big deal to come here and find it. Also, I feel saying the names ends up taking more time in the video. You’re always like “this is ___ from ___” and then you want to make sure you’ve said the right name and then maybe you give some alternative, etc, etc. I’m more concerned with the overall application and color schemes than the actual brands.

  61. Caroline Carnivorous

    April 17, 2011 at 6:05 pm

    – Nah, I think you should keep describing the color in the videos, but listing the products on here.
    – I really like the thing you did for the MAC Quite Cute collection.. First reviewing them, and then making a look with the products!
    – Maybe you could do more hair videos?
    – Series are good! I’d like something.. dark LOL
    – Polls and Q&A’s sound good!
    – I like how your reviews are already c:

    April 17, 2011 at 6:06 pm

Please start using names of products and BRUSHES again. Through your videos I got some of my best products but without naming all of that it’s just bleh. I hate series. if you are feeling inspired by care bears that day then do a carebear inspired video. if you’re still feeling it the next day, do another one. but with a set schedule it just seems like a chore. the only series I liked that you did was the superheroes. and I think having the same thing on a certain day of the week all the time like fierce fridays also reeeeally takes away from the videos.

  63. Chris

    April 17, 2011 at 6:06 pm

I honestly really liked when you mentioned products in the video because sometimes you would use a product that was already on my list of things to get, and I could see how it applied, blended, etc.

As for your favorite videos, the unwearable wednesday one is my favorite. Like ever. and it still remained helpful while being funny! Haha, i was always a fan of the really really colorful looks too, because so few gurus on youtube do things like that.

I kind of miss brand overviews, like the beauty from the earth ones and sugarpill. Because you talked about them, I was sold on trying them out too and they became some of my favorite products of all time! It was helpful in exploring new and really well made brands.

I really liked the candy series, because you made some colorful looks, but wearable ones too despite most candy being really out there (the york patty one was my favorite!)

I’d personally be really interested in seeing like a weekly or every other weekly favorite products post/video. It’d just be another way for us to discover new things to test out, because if other people are like me, they won’t stick to buying JUST MAC or JUST make up for ever ya knowwww?

I think doing blog polls would be really awesome too!

    <3 youuu :)

    April 17, 2011 at 6:08 pm

Yes!! Please say the name of the product you’re using :)
you should do a mini series for makeup for glasses and your first impression videos are funny haha
FF / WW were awesome please do them again! Anything I miss? Your red hair!! >:o lol

Never change Leesha you’re awesome :)

  65. Lauren

    April 17, 2011 at 6:08 pm

and in response to those saying that it’s ridiculous to complain about you not saying product names– I always watch youtube on my phone and the links in the sidebar are not clickable so I can’t easily get to your blog to read product names, and I don’t want to. at least list the products in the sidebar like other gurus do if you’re not going to say them in the video. if people don’t want to hear the product names then they can still look in their makeup and find something similar but if you’re saying I LOVE THIS and I don’t know what it is then…..

    just say it.

  66. beatrix

    April 17, 2011 at 6:14 pm

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?

This will turn into a rant but . No you shouldn’t say the product names because A) your subscribers should know better to check your blog (you always provide product names on your blog), maybe if they actually took the time to learn how to read, they wouldn’t be bitching about it. B) They need to know that brand names do not make a difference, they can determine a dupe for themselves. If they want quality makeup, they should do their own research because every person has a different skin type. Overall, don’t do it, if people complain then they have a stick up their dumb ass. I like it when you don’t give me the name because it gives me a challenge, it makes me do my own research, it gives me an opportunity to know more about colors and what works for my skin tone, etc. It’s like homework: I can’t learn if you just give me the answers and for those that complain, they just don’t want to learn. /rant lol

What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
I love your tutorials because, again, they’re challenging therefore I learn a lot from your tutorials. I would especially like it if you did tutorials where you applied makeup on someone else (especially with a different skin tone). I especially love WW and FF.

Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
Yes, I enjoy the series because it gets me something to look forward to and it’ll give you a consistent schedule.

Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
I really wish people did makeup from Sucker Punch (I only found one good tutorial and it wasn’t even BabyDoll). Unfortunately that’s all I can think of for now.

Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
Yes, they make it more enjoyable to watch and the interactions helps with audience participation.

Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
    It’s in-depth as it is.

    Any other suggestions?
No, I think you do an amazing job. You’re the first guru I saw when I first started learning how to apply makeup, I was 19 when I first watched your tutorials (now I’m 22 going on 23). Keep up the good work ;-)

I read some comments and agree with a bit of a theme going here…

If YOU are having fun making the videos, Leesha, then WE have fun watching them! I think a lot of us can totally tell when you are super happy with a look you created as apposed to you wracking your brains to think of something that will stick to a theme or series.

    coughcoughcoughCANDYcoughcough….

And this doesn’t have much to do with beauty, but I do really miss checking out your photos from your Project 365 :)

    * Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
I think you should say them again. I agree with the use what you have mentality, but sometimes, it’s hard to tell the color exactly, and I think using names will give a reference to people who don’t have those colors, so they can look up cheaper dupes or buy the original product. I don’t think it hurts to say the name.

    * What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
Tutorials are my favorite, but I like product overviews as well.

    * Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
Battle of the Brands was cool, although you only did it once. I think WW and FF should be brought back for sure.

    * Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
    Loooove Tutorial series!

    * Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
A lot of series have been done already, so it’s hard to pick one, but a video game series would be fun (I know we’re both nerds so it’d be awesome).

    * Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
More interactive posts would be good. I plan on sending guest looks to you when I get my camera working again/stop being so busy. :)

    * Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
I don’t know how they can be more in depth, but if that will help the reader, then you should go for it.

    * Any other suggestions?
It sounds like it’s being too repetitive, but maybe a throwback to an old tutorial with a new spin would be cool. I think you did it before with a purple look. It’s not a necessity as I like your old videos as well, but it’d be cool.

Don’t say the names of products or brushes, just describe them then post your list (like you do) on your blog. It’s a win win for everyone. You get to keep people who don’t want to hear it happy, while keeping people who do happy by listing it all.

I like tutorials, but I tend to get bored when watching them as I already know how to make the looks. I only really like seeing the finished product. That’s just me though, obviously keep doing tutorials and I love the various series that you do.

Also, first impressions and reviews are my FAVOURITE part of xSparkage. So please, more of that!

i dont care if you dont say product names, because i live in israel so anyway i cant have what you use in your videos.
i would love it if you did a tutorial series. they are so much fun!
beauty Q&A will also be great :) first impressions videos are fun to watch too, but everything you do is great :)
LOVE your videos, keep doing them as good as you do!

I personally loved hearing product names :). Pretty much all of my shadows Ive purchased because of seeing them on youtube. I really trust your opinion and I know you know what your talking about, so when you use a product and say its good, its very helpful to me. its fine if youd rather not say them, but that is just my opinion :). I think it also makes things more fun for some reason. I think when you don’t say product names, things seem more formal, which makes it seem less personal and relaxed. Such as when you would use your NYX pencil in every video in every video, and laugh at yourself. You can’t do that anymore because you don’t say the name of it. I’ll love you no matter what you do though :). My favorite types of videos of yours are probably your tutorials :)

Also, I second the idea of a True Blood makeup series.

    April 17, 2011 at 6:29 pm

    1) Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again? Yes, I would prefer this. As much as I think the pushing the idea of “use what you have” is great, I like to hear the names of the products you are using just in case I don’t have something like that and can know what it is and get it.

    2) I like tutorials, but my favourite videos are reviews of products. I love when you do them because I feel like I can trust your words and judgment. I also like to see where you compare like various types of makeup from different brands, i.e. liquid eyeliners from brand x, y, z

    3) n/a

    4) I love tutorial series! My favourite one has to be the Greek Gods one because at the time I was taking a course on Greek Mythology. I think it’s nice when you do themes!

    5) Maybe just random makeup from characters from movies? Makeup from different time periods?

    6) Sure.

    7) I think your swatch/review posts are quite in-depth already.

    * Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
I definitely would like to know what ure using and sometimes we dont know which is which even if there is a description. And I would love for you to be just natural and say it whenever you feel you need to (for example when its a product that you absolutely love for everyone to know)

    * What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see? Post- Reviews FOTD NOTD, Videos- Looks and Reviews

    * Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss? no not really. First impression and favorites of the month is nice though

    * Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? Absolutely!!

    * Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing? custom OCC lip tar mix!! haha

    * Would you like more interactive posts? To be honest not really keen on guest looks but polls are nice

    * Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth? No, leave that to Temptalia unless its something that she dint review much.. like INGLOT

    * Any other suggestions? update your makeup collection for 2011 pleaseee!!!!!

  78. Ashley

    April 17, 2011 at 6:35 pm

I think it’d be helpful for you to say the product names in your videos again, simply because you can find dupes for a lot of products especially on temptalia. I think its a lot more helpful if you tell us what products you’ve used instead of saying “blueish greenish color.” Lol.

I do have a suggestion, maybe use more drugstore brands, or do reviews atleast.

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again? I think for some, yes. having an idea of what product to buy to get the look is important and it can be frustrating trying to find something that works but it’s also annoying when someone is constantly pushing brands, esp high-end brands that are not reasonably priced.
What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see? I personally love hauls and what’s in my purse etc type of videos.
Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc) I really don’t pay attention to them unless a look catches my eye.
Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing? can’t think of any.
Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews) yes!
Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth? no.
Any other suggestions? idk I’m just so not into youtube videos lately because it feels like everyone on there has become very branded and business like. I haven’t enjoyed youtube in years. once everyone started getting paid, the fun of watching ended for me and the conflict of whether I should support the lifestyle of certain people with views kind of eats at me morally haha (not you, but others).

I like when you don’t say the names during tutorials because I find it a bit distracting from the point of the tutorial and I agree that it’s important to remember to shop your own collection and not assume you need to buy specific products/brands. If I’m really curious about something it’s not a trouble at all to come to your blog and check on it; I’m subscribed anyway :P

I love the tutorials that use bright colors or colors in combinations that people might not normally think of as going together.

I like tutorial series but don’t dislike random tutorials either!

I love your swatch blog posts! I think they’re pretty thorough as is, and I am super impressed by how high quality your photos are.

Polls and Q&A type posts would be fun and interesting, I think. It would be a good way to know how different people think about/do makeup or whatever.

Basically keep doing what you’re doing. Love your videos and your blog! :D

Also in reference to the whole product mention in the video:

I think that people are missing the point. Not everyone will have a similar product to use instead of what Leesha uses. For example, I don’t even own a “basic brown” eyeshadow because I prefer colors. But i’m in the market for one because it’s a staple color to have in a collection, and to see the one she uses is helpful because I trust her opinion and would consider buying that specific one. We all know Leesha is honest and she wouldnt recommend using a crappy product, and if she said Saddle was her favorite basic brown to use, I would believe her and consider that one. Y’all know what I mean right?

  83. tstymctst

    April 17, 2011 at 6:46 pm

I prefer it when people doing tutorials describe the colors enough that I can find a similar product in my stash, and also give the names of products so I could go out and get the same thing if I want something specifically or I need to find a dupe.

I’ve really enjoyed your monthly favorites videos, and nail polish swatch blog posts. I also like when you do tutorial series–there are still some from your last poll that I really wish you would do, like school cliques.

It doesn’t bother me if you say product names because your blog is in my most visited sites and I visit it everyday.
i really like first impressions. And I also like when you review things on video other than make-up. Thanks to you, I love Fortune Cookie Soaps. And since you have so many viewers and we all respect you, I think it would boost their sales, and we would find things that we love. I love when you post nail polishes. I’m in love with nail polishes!!! Maybe you could review them, and it could be a new day for you, like Nail Polish Mondays. Or something like that.
    More interactive posts!!!
    You are amazing. :)

I actually didn’t realize that you stopped saying product names until you said it in one video, I think :D I totally don’t pay attention to this so I don’t really care.
My favorite type of videos are month’s favorites, first impressions, tutorials, hauls. Actually everything :D I just have fun watching you.
I love series! But I don’t mind what are they.
Like other girls – don’t do voice overs, please :D I find them quite awful and too.. idk, snobby. It’s just weird..

#1 yes! pleasee say the name of the products you use in your tutorials! I like learning about new products and often purchase make up that has been used in tutorials. Maybeee in the downbar/blog list the description of the color you use so people could easily find an alternative.

#2 I like your ” Battle of the Brands” videos…and theme tutorials. Posts .. I like hearing about new brands. Also I LOOOVE when you post different sales promotions,

    #3 Bring back Fierce Fridays!!!

#4 Yes! Tutorial Series are fun and unique!

    #5 Punk Rock Seriesssss

#6 I think you should do more Tips & Tricks type videos. I learn a lot from vids like that!

#7 I think the swatch/reviews that you do now are already great.

    Any other suggestions?

Just be yourself and keep it fun!

Hello… here’s my feedback… I don’t think name brands make a difference, use what you have is most important. It’s cool when you list the products at the bottom of the post cause I like to know… and a lot of the times I buy exactly what you buy… but mentioning names in the video itself might not be totally cruical.

I looooove your tutorial posts the most and then when you talk about products or compare them. It would be cool if you posted a look book type thing… just photos of your looks… cause they are so inspiring. I do love the tutorials though, themed or not, they were so much fun. Thanks for being amazing.

    * Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
Well, I don’t really mind. If something makes me interested in knowing more I check the blog.

    * What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
Tutorials, you always have something interesting so I for one hand never loose interest.

    * Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
Wearable Wednesday and Fierce Friday. Well you did revive them again if my memory serves me right for the Katy Perry tutorial.

    * Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
Absolutely. I really appreciate them. It is nice to see you make these series cohesive without being repetitive. These videos I would like to see more off.

    * Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
Hm. Well to name a few:
    The elements
emotions (red and black for anger, orange and yellow for happiness and so forth).

Makeup for us oily skin dudes and girls (one for primers, foundations and the rest).

Planets ( For the visual colors of the planet I think would be best for it to not be similar to the god series).

Maybe something with fairy tales/ myths like dryads, mermaids, harpies, phoenix, unicorns.

    Insects.

    * Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
I think polls would be a nice thing to add.

    * Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
For that I don’t mind. I like them now as they are but something more in-depth wouldn’t hurt.

    April 17, 2011 at 7:10 pm

It doesn’t bother me personally whether or not you say the product name in your video…Just like you had said about the guest look reply using Wet N Wild makeup…You can achieve the same look whether you are using drug store makeup or Mac…

I love it when you do series of tutorials..For example, when you did the Hogwarts set. That was awesome! You should do more first impressions videos!

    I miss fierce Fridays!!

More interactive posts would bring your readers together…By posting more guest looks/reviews as well as polls would give us a chance to interact more with each other(not that we don’t already).

You are very thorough with your swatch/Review posts as is.

    * Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
Doesn’t make a difference to me, it ain’t hard to go to your blog and read what they are lol.

    * What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
Bright, colorful, fun and unique looks- stuff that is kinda “crazy” and not the norm for makeup.

    * Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
Not that I can think of.

    * Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
Sometimes…I liked the candy but wasn’t a fan of the greek gods.

    * Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
Maybe a twist on classic looks- smoky eye with nude lip, pinup eye with red lips- but done your way. (Like the pinup eye could have orange lips, or the smoky eye could be purple or something, etc.)

    * Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
    Definitely.

    * Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
    Yes, that’d be nice.

    * Any other suggestions?
    Stay awesome :) lol

Hey Leesha! I have the strongest opinion about you starting a series again. Not only because I enjoy them more than any other kind of video, but mostly because you’re at your best when you have some kind of guideline.

You yourself once mentioned that you do better with structure and I can imagine it would help to have something to base the look off of. I went through 90% of your video’s last weekend and I found myself watching all your series. You’re amazing with them. I hope the majority agrees.

You’re a great and the most inspirational makeup artist! =)

    April 17, 2011 at 7:19 pm

    1. personally i don’t mind, i don’t have a lot of make-up and i’m not from the US, so i will have to use whatever i do have. and that’s oke if i see you (or anyone else on youtube) use a product or color that i don’t have, but want to have i’ll probably go looking for something similair so agaun names aren’t really important to me.

    2. tutorials definatly but i also like watching reviews/first impresions

    4. yes i do enjoy them, thoug only for a few weeks (like for example 4 looks in a serie i like but 8 would become too much of the same kind of thing…)
maybe something animal inspired, or something for a few different music genres

    5. i’d like some more interactive posts, but it’s not something really important to me.
it could be something nice to add to the blog more, but i’m fine without it.

    6. i like them the way they are now, but more in-depth ones are cool too. though because i’m not from the US i only care for the more in-depht ones when the product is actually sold in other countries as well. (if i can’t get them here (the netherlands) i still like seeing how they look etc. but i’m not really intersted in more in-depth ones for those kinds of pruducts.)

what really matters to me when it comes to swatch/reviews are good photo’s and maybe some good and bad things about the product. and of course honesty, like does it do what it says it should do, what are the things you don”t like about it etc.

Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
    Any other suggestions?

    * Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?

no i don’t it’s enough that you post them on your blog. People always focus to much on the products.

    * Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)

Beauty Q&A’s would be great, polls i don’t really need :D reviews Totally :D Even though i can’t always get my hands on stuff you review, i think it’s very interesting

    * Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?

yes i’ve noticed that sometimes you post quick swatches and promise to review them but never do. I like watching your review video’s.

    * Any other suggestions?

Maybe you could do some more face video’s, like in my case, i’ve been watching you so long there isn’t alot of eyestuff you can still teach me, though contouring, or foundation or stuff like that i do still need help with, but you never include those :) Just an idea :D

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
    * Not necessarily, because as you say, you don’t nééd Inglot eyeshadows for example.
What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
    * Reviews, hauls, tutorials/looks.
Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
    * I haven’t followed you for that long, so, no (:
    Do you enjoy Tutorial Series?
    * Yes =D
Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
    * Celebrity series perhaps?
Would you like more interactive posts?
    * It’s fine how it is now.
Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
    * Uh. Yes? ;D
    Any other suggestions?
    * Keep up all that you do, I love your site ;D Alhough it would be even greater if you’d post a post more often.

    Love.

    • Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
I completely understand the fact that you’re trying to say that we all don’t have to use exactly whatever product you’re using but I personally enjoy tutorials better with the product name said because if it is something that really stands out me to I like to know what it is without doing so much searching for the name and matching up the color with swatches online. Granted I know the names are in the description and on your blog because obviously I read it but since there are often multiple shadows used I find myself have to look up each different product till I can figure it out.

    • What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
As far as videos I like tutorials in general but I do especially like both the Wearable Wednesday and Fierce Friday ones you do. I also really enjoy the monthly favorites type videos and hauls are also a big favorite for me.
For blog posts I like seeing new upcoming brand collection posts and swatches.

    • Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
Yea I think the tutorial series are fun.

    • Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
I think it would be fun to see some type of tips and tricks series for different types of products, for example a Lip tricks and tips you could compile all sorts of information in one video about exfoliating, how to line your lips and how to make them appear more full and pouty, applying counselor around the edges for cleaner lines, adding pigment to the center etc. Even a nail video about cleaning/brightening nails, cuticle treatment, information on base/top coats and ridge fillers, how to fix a broken nail using different methods etc.

    • Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
I don’t think they have to be so in-depth, I personally like reviews that include what is great and not so great which can include stuff about the packaging, if the product is chalky or powdery etc.

*Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
I don’t think it’s bad if you only say what the colors are like and not what they actually are.. I definitely understand your reasoning behind it. I did like hearing the product names in the video, though. I’m not sure. I think it might be nice if you start saying them again. But if you get 1000 annoying comments every video saying “I DON’T HAVE THAT PRODUCT” and “OMG CAN I USE THIS??” I can’t blame you for keeping the names out of it. lol

*What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
I like tutorials, but I, also, really like seeing reviews. (especially the scent reviews.. even if you don’t think you’d good at them lol)

*Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
    Not in particular.

*Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
    Yes.

*Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
I really liked your series based on shows and movies (like Glee).

*Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
I’m neutral. They’re fun! But I like your regular posts just as well.

*Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
Yes! I really like your review posts. I always find awesome products based on your recs.

    *Any other suggestions?
    n/a :)

Wow, everyone’s covered a lot of what I’m going to say, but I’ll throw my two cents in too.:) I don’t mind at all that you say the name of the product, but as one person said, some of them are not available or are too expensive for some of us, so finding dupes would be fantastic. I also really enjoy when you do brand battles, it’s a great way to narrow down what you do or don’t like about a product. I love the idea of steady Fierce Friday and Wearable Wednesdays, it’s something fun to look forward too.^^
You’re vids and blog are so great, keep it up!:D

I liked it when you said the name of the product because it’s the best way to review something, I end up using what I have no matter what. And I love series, but not when they drag on forever, ‘cuz then even you get sick of them a bit. And I miss the first impressions videos when you actually put on the stuff and had it on for the day. That’s pretty much it, I think ^^

I agree. At my old school we used your tutorials in our makeup classes. They are the best. I don’t care if you use names or not. If we can’t find it we make do. Love the apple cider vin for my acne to. Works great.

What are your favorite types of posts/videos to see?
I really liked the video you did for the Quite Cute collection. I’d love to see more videos like that where you review new MAC collections. And of course I love the tutorials :)

Do you enjoy the tutorial series?
Yes! I absolutely love them <3

Is there a type of series you'd be interested in seeing?
I think since prom is really soon some girls would want to see prom make up tutorials that would match the theme of their prom. I think you could post a question asking what their prom themes are and the most popular ones you could do the tutorials for. :)

  103. Marcela

    April 17, 2011 at 8:26 pm

Hi Leesha, I think if you just mention the product name/brand in tutorials and then briefly describe what it is should make everyone happy (example: “I’m using MAC ___ but any other eyeshadow of this __ shade and __ finish will do.”)

Also, I looove your video tutorials on eye looks. The series kinds were cool. Maybe you can do a new series based on bird-inspired looks (like some bright coral-pink look inspired by flamingos or a crazy orange-black look inspired by emperor penguins.) LOL just throwing some random idea out there.

looove the bird series idea and i agree i like knowing the brands in case i feel I NEED THAT COLOR!! lol also i like first impressions, but maybe follow ups on products a few weeks later to say how it’s working for you (like with skin care)

  104. Shannon

    April 17, 2011 at 8:34 pm

I think the first impressions were a great idea. Also maybe reviewing some of the cheaper brands more often would be nice, I know there have been many times when I stop by the makeup aisle at the store and debate on purchasing some of the new things that are out, but I hate running the risk of purchasing something and having it be a bust. I personally just did a haul/semi review on a bunch of Hard Candy items, and found that they’re cheap and are fantastic products.

A Q&A blog would be great! And saying the name of a product always helps me. Even if it’s a high end product, I can usually find a great dupe or something comparable.

Hey Leesha!!! I miss the WW and FF, and I loved when you would do a series of tutorials (aka, Greek Gods, etc…) Your tutorials are the BEST because even if it’s something that I would never wear, it is always such a beautiful look. you are super talented and I love how you are “real” unlike most gurus… but anyways, that was my very long opinion on what I loved… keep up the great work!

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again? No, but a list of what you use in the drop down thing would be great. Just because sometimes you use something that I find I would like to get (not because I feel I need it to recreate the look just that I want it).

Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss? WW & FF
Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? Yes
Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews) Yes

-I think product names are usually a good idea because, like the first person said it’s a great way to see a specific product in use, or if a viewer owns the product you’re using they can maybe realize a new use for it that they never thought of before.
-Favorite posts are product reviews, with lots of swatches; favorite videos are bright tutorials
-Tutorial Series are fun, but with a limited running time :)
-Definitely more interactive posts/videos! I think the whole point of the beauty community on youtube is for people to interact and share, and a lot of gurus are kind of drifting away from that
-Reviews/swatches are the perfect amount of depth
-One other thing, I noticed in your Katy Perry ET video you said you didn’t want to do the full look because it’s not helpful for other people to wear (forgetting the fact that it didn’t turn out the way you wanted because that doesn’t matter for this lol) but sometimes, like with the really bright tutorials, they’re just fun to watch and see how it would be done, even if I would never wear it.

Hope you liked my suggestions…sorry for the essay!

Sorry this is gonna be a mini rant.
I personally liked it better when you said what products you used in your videos. I don’t see the wrong in saying what brands you used because even if you dont say what products you’re using it doesn’t change the fact that you’re using them. So I dont see the big deal in having to not say the names of the brands anymore. And I also think most people are smart enough to be able to look at their make up collection and make do with what they have instead of just saying “I dont have that product so I can’t do this look at all”. Plus saying what you used doesn’t stop people from looking up dupes for it. I dont really understand why people get angry when you say what you use because it’s not like it’s stopping them from using something else. You use what products you use so what’s the big deal? I also dont feel like you’re pushing brands. I think you’re honest. You use the products that you like and that work and if those happen to come with a higher price tag then that’s just that. I kinda feel it’s wrong that people want you to in a sense “hide” what products you’re using. It kinda feels like it’s now a secret code: “if you want to know what I used go here to find out”. Like saying the name of a product is now taboo. It’s not like the name hurts anybody truly those who dont like brands can simply not buy them. Plus sometimes I’ll see you use a product that I just absolutely love and will put on my list to buy and it’s nice when sometimes you talk about it in your vids. (Like with the Nyx milk jumbo eye pencil.) It just makes it seem more relaxed and natural.

On another note: I absolutely love your series vids. I love being able to look at the theme and seeing it interpreted in your make-up. It’s fun to be able and look at the finished look and connect it to it’s inspiration. Having said that, however, I think you should make looks that you want to. I dont want you to have to feel forced to make a certain look fit with a certain theme. I’m sure it’s no fun to have to force creativity. So if there is something you can draw inspiration from and make a series that’d be wonderful, but if not then I wouldn’t try to force it. Ultimately I want you to have fun with what you do and will continue to support you no matter what you decide to do as long as you stay true to yourself. =)

I agree with everything this person said!!!!

I love knowing the products you use, in case one day I may want to splurge on an item…I will know what it is and what it is like!

Also, please do NOT do a bunch of crap about prom….EVERY SINGLE GURU is doing it…and I set you aside from all the rest of the beauty gurus because I find that you are the most honest, and true to yourself and you really stand out from the rest of the gurus who are completely obsessed with everything make up and fashion in all sense of it, in everyday life and you’re more on the relaxed side and still are amazing at what you do!!!!!

I think what you’re doing is great! First impressions are great, maybe as someone said possibly to review or do more first impressions of drug store brands? but as this person already said….do whatever you like! :D

    Hi these are my inputs-
Products brands names- I don’t really mind as long as you write it down here, personally I think it was natural that you said what you were using.
Series – I liked it a lot, they were very good!
Interactive posts- Sure it could be fun!
Swatches and reviews- seem quite good as they are now.
My suggestion- can you teach us how to match colors to my skin tone, and I mean that not all colors look good on people with different skin tones.
Some other suggestion – to match a look to a certain nail polish color.

I’ve been watching your tutorials for a while and this is the first time I actually comment here so – yay! I just want to say you’re doing a great thing here, helping and inspiring and generally cheering me up!
    Good luck!

    * Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again? -> yes
    * What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see? -> tutorials and posts about skin care, wheter it’s about brands or tips (like the one you did about apple cider vinegar)
    * Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss? -> skin care reviews maybe?
    * Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc) -> yes
    * Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing? -> i don’t know

I think you should say the names of the products again because there are so many that your viewers think that they just need to have in general. I love the video series tutorials and would LOVE more First Impression videos, they’re my favorite! Could you do a natural tutorial please? Could you also do the “My Top 5 _________” videos. I think it would be very fun, and some of the stuff I get is because you or other beauty gurus recommend it. Could you do a First Impressions on different drugstore makeup. Could you also do more swatches? I LOVE swatches.

My favorite videos you’ve done in the past are always the series, like Greek Gods and Candy. I’ve always wanted to see someone do a series for music. Like, looks based off of cover art rather than just the makeup the group wears for shows. It would be interesting to see your interpretation as well as giving us an insight into some of the music you listen to.

However, I think regardless of what videos you make they’ll be fantastic as always!

Hey Leesha. First of all, I don’t really mind you not saying the names of the products because I never have them anyway :) other people might feel differently though. Maybe you could just post a list of products on your blog? Or did you do that before anyway….haha I dunno.
As for more detailed blog posts, I would love to hear a bit more of your opinion on the products themselves, so it would be nice for them to be a little more detailed-I love reading them!
Aaaand lastly, I do like series makeup looks; I think that maybe if you did a nail-polish based makeup series, that would be really neat. Just an idea.

Yes, because it feels awkward when you dont…. I like to see what you use because it helps me find out about more companies (ex. Inglot. Never heard of them before you mentioned them, now I own 3 pallettes)

*What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see? I like WW & FF because I love wearable looks but also like some crazy ones now and again

*Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss? quick tips

I don’t really mind if you say the product name or not, as long as you describe what the color looks like because sometimes they don’t show up in exactly the right shade in the video so it makes it harder to match the shade with dupes.

My favorite videos are makeup tutorials because it’s always nice for someone who doesn’t have as much of an eye for shades that look good together to see some different looks to try! I do enjoy the tutorial series, they’re interesting and it’s really neat to see your interpretation of different characters or themes.

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again? YES because then, even if we don’t have it, we can google it & look at swatches & see if there is a cheaper dupe to it or if we have something close to it in our collection.
What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see? Celebrity inspired looks.
Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss? Wearable Wednesdays
Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc) Depends on the series & just the turorial in general
Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing? Hmmm.IDK!

I’m ok with you either leaving the product names out, or saying them. It doesn’t really bother me either way to be honest.

I enjoy your series tutorials (I think that’s how I found your videos, way long ago). I love being able to see you use your creativity.

I would like to see more product reviews, because I genuinely appreciate your opinion. :)

  126. Heidi

    April 17, 2011 at 10:48 pm

I actually don’t miss product names. I’m colorblind (which makes having a thing for makeup REALLY hard) so just saying what color you’re using is helpful. Even if you do put them back in, having a color description is still really helpful to me (and probably others). “MAC Texture eye shadow” tells me absolutely nothing.

I love tutorials!!! Full face, eyes, red lip, nails, anything. My favorite tutorials to watch are for eyes (or full face that goes with the eyes). Eyes are SOOOOO fun!

I miss Fierce Fridays. Sometimes a girl just needs to have a fierce Friday, you know?

Usually by the end of a series, I was completely over it. In retrospect, I like to look back at them. maybe if they were smaller I’d like them more? I remember you did WW and FF vids with themes for a while and it went on for weeks. Maybe instead you could just do it all in one week? I’m just thinking out loud here…

no real comment no the rest.

Leesha, you got this 30-year-old mom of 4 out of her years-long mama frumpy years and into ROCKING some makeup and hair and nails. seriously. thank you from the bottom of my heart!

And i love your tutorials and alll your series, you have talent and you should keep showing it :D

    1. I always liked it when you said product brands and names in your videos. Sure i usually never had anything that you were using but I liked knowing what you were using b/s if I liked it I could go get it for myself, and I always used what I had anyways if I didn’t have something. It doesn’t matter otherwise since you post everything here on your blog so I could look it up otherwise.

    2. My fave vids of yours are your tutorials. I watch a whole lot of other ppl but your looks are the ones I rly want to try after I’ve seen them. I like your different use of products as well, always something different :D. I do love your other vids though, the reviews, first impression are very good too. The only ones I don’t rly get into are the airbrush ones since I don’t use on myself, but everyone’s different. Not saying you shouldn’t make them since a lot of other ppl would want your input on it.

    3. Vids that i miss that I guess you used to do were your totally random tutorials. I guess idk lol.

    4. I do love your tutorial series, I like seeing what you can come up w/. Greek gods and goddesses were very gorgeous and I felt like there was something for everyone.

    5. Hmm series I’d be interested in seeing … I still like wearable wednesday and fierce friday (not rly a series though), maybe more of the candy inspired looks, there’s tons of candy out there :P, maybe Nickelodeon inspired looks (if you watched Nickelodeon :P), or looks inspired by a certain nail polish color. There are some unique colors by Zoya that I rly look that I would love see worked into a tutorial, doesn’t necessarily have to be Zoya though. I like your celebrity.movie looks too like your Tron inspired look, that was awesome :D.

    6. I do love the interactive posts beauty Q&A and quest looks are very informative.

    7. Don’t seem how you could change your swatch posts could be changed I like them pretty much the way they are, maybe relate them to another color or product just for a comparison I guess.

    8. Other than that I love your blog and your videos :D. Nothing to complain about rly. Looking forward to whatever you come up with, your vids were some of the first I ever came across when I started searching around on youtube and I’ll continue to be a supporter no matter what. Hope this helps, maybe :P. <3 :D

I like when you actually say the product. It’s nice because if I like it I can actually go and buy it or find something similar in my collection (or even see if I already have it!)
My favorite videos are your tutorials of course. I like the series, but not when they last for two long….I’m sure you feel the same way about that, you said yourself you were bored with WW and FF…I also like reviews of stuff you tried and First Impressions!
I also really like the series that was suggested a while back, “around the world” I think you could have a lot of fun with that. Hope that helps!! xxx

  130. Julia

    April 17, 2011 at 11:21 pm

I don’t see any harm in posting the names of the products you’re using. You’re not pushing anything, and people shouldn’t take it like that.

Tutorials are my favorite things of yours that you post. That’s why I subscribed to you in the first place. So definitely more tutorials. I like the series that you do, but at the same time I don’t want you to feel pressured to fit the standards that we’re expecting of you. I think you should ultimately just do looks that you want to do. But for a series, I would like decades or time periods. That would be really cool and it’s been suggested by many people before.

I like when you do Wearable Wednesday and Fierce Friday, but only because it provides some sort of regularity. I’m not saying that you don’t post enough. I’m saying that it’s nice to know that there will be a video on a particular day instead of just waiting around.

I think Beauty Q&A is pretty pointless considering the amount of beginner and basics videos there are out there. And I don’t like guest looks. We subscribe to see you and hear your input and see your looks!

That’s all I really have to say. I’ve been watching your videos for about 3 years now (I’m 17) and you’re my absolute favorite beauty guru! So thank you for everything. I’ve learned all that I know about makeup from you. You’re a great inspiration. :)

  131. Jennifer Williams

    April 17, 2011 at 11:21 pm

I really enjoy the WW and FF series. I’m still fairly new to makeup and the WW helps me tremendously. Out of all the people I watch for tutorials you are the closest to my own complexion and it’s really easy for me to gauge what it would look like on myself.

It doesn’t matter to me if you state the names of the brands or not. I just use what I’ve got. It might me good to stress if you are stating names that it doesn’t have to be that specific brand. I think you might already do that though.

I’m not a huge fan of the swatches. They don’t really do anything for me. I read more about what your feedback is.

I think you’re doing a really good job overall with your blog! Keep it up!

  132. Juju

    April 17, 2011 at 11:27 pm

I think as far as giving the brand and name of the product you use in your videos and blog posts that you might as well. I mean, those of us who are prone to “using what we have” by nature are gonna do it anyway, but those of us who have trouble with that will have something specific to go by. Make sense?

I, personally, miss the more editorial type makeup looks. But thats just me. Natural looks are good too, and everything, but there are only so many ways to twist a “natural” look and have it still be natural. You know? Whereas, editorial (or just plain loud and in your face lol) looks are pretty muchh limited to the imagination. And they can always be toned down to be more wearable for those not like myself, who would wear it full blast. :)

As far as the “series/theme” looks go, I think they are fun, and kind of help you know what to look forward too. Not an “all the time” type of thing, but to have them every once in a while would be cool.

    Just my opinion. :)

  133. Elle

    April 17, 2011 at 11:29 pm

I personally like when you say the product names. If it’s something I really like then I want to know what it is. My favorite types of posts are reviews with swatches. My favorite type of videos are tutorials and reviews. I do enjoy a tutorial series because it’s nice to know when another video is coming. I’d love to see a series with looks from that makeup magazine you have. I would like to see the swatch/review post include the wear time and pictures of how the product looks after you’ve been wearing it a while. I personally would love to see more videos on the everday products you use. Like a montly video on what beauty products you use in your daily routine.

  134. Jenny

    April 17, 2011 at 11:30 pm

    1. I prefer it when you mention the product names. It helps me get a feel of what brands are better and such and also if I’m hearing a product get mentioned around the beauty community i’ll know its a good product to buy.

    2. My favorite posts on your blog are usually swatches but my favorite videos are of course tutorial and i also enjoy your reviews a lot.

    3. I miss fierce friday and wearable wednesday. You were more consist with putting up videos then and I knew when to expect new videos.

    4. I have neither negative nor positive feelings toward them. bring them back if you want or don’t i don’t mind either way haha.

    5. Well a while ago when you had a poll on what makeup series to do, one of the options was school cliques. I thought that was a good idea for a series because yes it’s INCREDIBLY stereotypical lmfao but there’ll most likely be a look for everybody in there.

    6. Ehhh I like seeing your content more :]

    7. It couldn’t hurt but as long as you’re not going overboard and babbling waaay too much.

    8. I really really enjoyed first impressions and would love if you did those more frequently. It would also be cool if you reviewed cheaper products. You don’t have to use cheaper products in tutorials or anything but I’m just interested in cheaper alternatives.

  135. Katie

    April 17, 2011 at 11:35 pm

I don’t find it upsetting if you do or don’t say the brand names but it does help to give me a reference point when the name of a color is said so I can find a swatch online and compare to my own collection(plus then I can remember exactly which color went where). Listing everything on the blog doesn’t go unappreciated but sometimes it is easier to just hear you say the name in the video.
Please do more series! Wearable Wednesday/Fierce Fridays were great and it did seem like videos would be put up on a more regular basis. Oh and I love the Leesha Loves videos, keep those coming

I personally miss the random, spontaneous tutorials you did that weren’t necessarily for fierce friday, wearable wednesday, or for a series.
Also, I definetly think that you should post more vlogs on your discodollies channel.
AND…looking at past videos, it doesn’t seem like you’re as happy as you once were. Maybe it’s just me. :(

It doesn’t bother me when people do or do not say the product names as they do tutorials. Honestly, anyone who has a problem with it . . . just isn’t looking hard enough or they’re being lazy. You always post the products you use on your blog, it’s easy to find if they decided they HAVE to have the products you’re using which they obviously don’t. My favorite videos to see are ALWAYS tutorials. I love it when I see a tutorial in my inbox because it’s a lot more exciting than a review. I like itty bitty reviews within the tutorials. Like “this pigment is a little harder to work with because it’s chalky” or “I love these because they’re super pigmented” those are more helpful than sitting watching a whole ten minute review. Often I skip to the diagnosis on those videos rather than watch the whole thing cause it’s just not interesting to me. I prefer reading reviews on blogs over seeing them in videos. I loved it when you were doing the wearable wednesdays and the fierce friday series!! I think you should keep going on the candy one just because there were so many candies that you didn’t do. It might be fun to do celebrity wearable wednesdays and runway makeup for fierce friday. I love that you’re asking us for our opinions. Thanks for all you do for us :D

I love the themed tutorials, however I see that you get bored, so don’t do a theme for so long. I love the ones where it’s a brand feature type.

Sometimes I like when you add in the brand names, but not always. It makes it longer when you do it constantly. Anyway you give a link to the blog which has the brands and names on it.

I love the interaction posts, like polls on what you should do next. Makes it very personal

I don’t see you making a lot of Wearable Wednesdays, which I really love.

I also like the guest reviews, you had one earlier this year and it was nice.

I think you should say the brand- and color names, and the names of brushes. It makes it easier to recreate a look even with other products. I love you tutorials and the series are great! Wearable Wednesday is super helpful – I would like to see some really toned down colorful looks that I could wear to school/work. And to me it doesn’t really matter if you did the same look two years ago. Chances are great that we forgot about them (:

-I like when you say the product names in your vids, that way I can easily look up a swatch of the product online and find something similar in my collection. I guess it doesn’t matter all that much though, because I watch your videos mainly here rather than on YouTube.

-My favorite posts to see are Make-up Tutorials!

-I miss Fierce Fridays, I would love it if you brought them back!

-I also love the tutorial series that you do. Unfortunately I don’t have an suggestions for stuff I want to see, I just come and check it out and love the stuff you do.

-Interactive posts would be fun! Maybe someday I will get up the courage to make a guest tutorial. :)

Keep up the great work, you are my all time favorite make-up guru! I hope this helped :)

I would really like for you to say the names of the products you were using. It felt very unnatural when you didn’t and it came off as a tactic to get people to go to your blog. (even if that’s not what your intentions were)
Also I really liked your first impressions video series where you would open the product on camera then wear it out and come back and say what you though of it.
Less guest reviews and more reviews/tutorials/hauls

-Product names: I like the use what you have idea but sometimes there are times when a color is just so amazing I want to know what it is so I’m a little torn on this one. Maybe don’t mention the names in the video but list them on the blog?

-Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss: The VS. videos, I liked the few that you made and found them very helpful.

-Tutorial Series: Obviously it depends on the series subject but in general I do enjoy them.

    -Interactive posts: beauty Q/A

I think it is better when you say the names of the products as you use them. I do like series make up looks. I miss fierce friday because it was usually bold looks that you could put your own twist on and it was fun to see what you would come up with. But I love your videos and whatever you decide to put up im always happy to watch :)

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again? Yes, it isn’t an extreme annoyance but a lot of the time when you put up a new video, everyone is on your website so its on overload and i can rarely see what products you use until the next day.
What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see? Definitely tutorials.
Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss? Nope!
Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc) I personally love series!
Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing? Mini-series! Kinda like your glee series and stuff like that :)
Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews) YES!
Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?Slightly
Any other suggestions? Nope! :) You are doing great.

i miss your first impressions videos, and i think you should say like “now take a light blue, im using *insert product name here*.” thats usually my favorite format for tutorials

I love the tutorial series, you could have a poll on here for which one to do :)

Leesha, your doing a great job. If people don’t like what you do or say, they dont have to watch the video. simple as that, but majority of people do not think that way. They’d rather complain to you about you or to other people, which isnt fair because you put in so much time and effort.

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again? I think so with a brief description such as “a coral peach eyeshadow”

What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see? I like random things, like a new way of storing something, or a technique you just found useful. I like short but sweet videos.

Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss? not really. I love your videos.

Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc). Why yes, yes I did.

Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing? Whatever you think of is fine with me.

Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews) That’d be pretty cool.

Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth? OMG YES !!!! Especially in this economy… I want to know whatever I’m buying is good and going to last.

Any other suggestions? MOAR CATS !!!

Hey Leesha! Love your blogs, tutorials, and pretty much everything that you do! I was wondering since you’re asking for ideas, could you possibly do some tutorials using bare escentuals bare minerals foundations and concealers, eyeshadows, and maybe their eyebrow products. I love Bare Escentuals products and sometimes get confused on how to use certain ones. For instance, eyebrows. I have a terrible time with eyebrows. I just got the eyebrow kit from bare escentuals not too long ago, and still my eyebrows look crazy. I barely have any. They are really blonde and crazy. I was also wondering if you used any other products besides the really expensive eyebrow serum growth stuff that actually works and is inexpensive. I went to the huge sale at ulta today and saw a NYX one but I wasn’t sure about it. Okay sorry I’m rambling…lol Hope you’re having a great time with your Mom!! Great job with everything! =)

I like it when you say product names and describe the shade, that way I can either google the name to find a dupe (or use the temptalia database) or I can check my stash.

My favorite types of videos are tutorials and first impressions videos.

I really enjoy tutorial series! Maybe you could do a 7 deadly sins series, different countries (but I guess that would be a little controversial), different types of flowers, a months of the year series, and the almost ubiquitous series- beauty through the ages.

I would like the swatch/review posts/videos to be more in-depth. Maybe you could even add suggestions of shades for different skin tones (fair, medium, dark).

I think that the way you list the products in the post is totally sufficient. In my opinion, it’s much easier to read them afterward than to try and catch it as your saying it in the video. It also seems like a distraction to you to have to keep checking the brand and color name, which makes the video drag on.

I’m seriously so appreciative of your review videos and would love to see more! You’ve def helped me to stop wasting money on crap products. Seriously. Thanks so much!

  156. Janalyn

    April 18, 2011 at 3:25 am

Definetly a YES to saying the product names! You can also put dupes too, in the more info section, that could also be helpful and address the people who want to try that look but cant get the exact product.

I love hauls, reviews, and favorites videos =) but your videos are great as it is so keep it up!!

in honesty saying the product name doesnt really matter since i dont really own the same products you do and just the showing the shade would be enough
i really like when you make product reviews especially the cheap ones but it would be good if you use them in your tutorials.
as for the series i absolutely loved them and would love to see them back
having interaction with your viewers is important as it lets you know what the majority of your viewers want to see so polls are a grate idea.
we love watching you so long as videos are being made im sure it will keep people happy =D

    Hey Leesha!

I liked it when you mention the product names but not mentioning it isn’t really a big deal to me either since I read your blog anyway.

I’d just like to see more tutorials in general, hey. I like your review videos. Your first impressions videos were good but I think I like your review videos better where you go into more depth about the product and its effects after you’ve tried them out.

Wearable Wednesdays and Fierce Fridays were fun and I liked that it was a schedule so I knew when to look for it and what to look forward to rather than checking back now and then and hoping to find something. Series videos were fun, I really enjoyed them. The Candy tutorial was really awesome because it wasn’t like recreating a look or trying to look like something/someone, it was just being inspired by it and being totally creative. I loved that and thought it was really smart so maybe more themes like that? More outrages, not-so-obvious themes.

I like guest looks because it exposes me to other awesome people in the online makeup community. Polls and always fun and definitely beauty Q&A!! All the way!

    Yay for Leesha! xo

I really enjoyed the Greek God series, would love to see something like that come back. I also miss your NOTD! AS for the product names, I don’t really care! I read your blog anyway so here or on the video doesn’t matter to me! Love your tutorials keep them coming!

    April 18, 2011 at 4:08 am

I think that you don’t need to say the name of the product, but it doesn’t really matter to me. What is helpful, is a description of the shade, so I can find something similar.

I liked the first impression videos. You don’t seem to do them anymore, but maybe I”m just not paying enought attention.

You were the first video i ever found in 2008 with a stila look that you took down :(
I love product names bc when listening it helps me figure out what you’re using faster. And if you tool your blog posts down of vice versa its in the video. I miss your crazy unplanned just kind of playing videos. I loved your bright looks that weren’t perfectly planned but just rocked. There are all those looks fr
Your trip to NYC I want to see! The yellow and pink and pin up look. Love your scent reviews. I started watching bc you did

My favorite videos you do are the first impressions! You haven’t done one in a while but I love them.
And product names are extremely helpful, along with the way you describe them. Sometimes I see a shadow that you’re using that I have to have, and if I’m lucky I can scroll through the comments to see if someone knows what it is, but product names are really beneficial, I think. My favorite videos are always reviews and product comparison. I feel like the series tutorials can get a little long, especially when it seems like you’ve done 14 Greek tutorials, and you haven’t had time for any other videos in the meantime. Short mini-series, like three to five looks, I think would be perfect. That way there’s still multiple looks, but there’s
No time to get bored of a certain series.

    April 18, 2011 at 4:55 am

Personally, I like it when you mention product names but now I understand why you don’t anymore.

I really liked your tutorial series because I knew when to expect a video from you. I liked that you kept to a schedule and did more frequent videos.

You should do Wearable Wednesday again and do a Red Carpet series where you take looks from celebs on the red carpet and recreate ones that are already wearable or make the more bold looks wearable!

Lastly, can you do a video explaining how to figure out your skin type and how to figure out the undertone in your skin for foundation? Thanks!

  167. Sarah

    April 18, 2011 at 5:17 am

Thanks for doing this, it really shows that you’re interested in what we think!
It is pretty crazy that people get so upset when you don’t name the products specifically but maybe if you give a description of it (so that viewers/fans can use or find dupes) and then name the product you actually used, no one will complain (hopefully)!

My wifi lags like nobody’s business so I tend to follow your blog and catch up on your vids whenever I can. I love seeing swatches and reviews, pretty colours and new products are always exciting.

For new series, I know people are suggesting looks for prom but that is so broad, there’s really no end to the number of looks you could do for that. I think you’re a Tim Burton fan (from your Halloween costume, haha!), maybe you could create some looks inspired by some of his characters. I don’t know if you’d want to do them dramatically or interpret them into something more wearable? I’m not sure, I know it might not appeal to some of your viewers.

I think you’re doing very well, keep up the good work! <3

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?

    – I like that you don’t but it would be better if you described the color or insert a swatch of the product or something. :)

What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?

    – I loooooooooooove your first impressions videos!!

Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?

    – Hmmm… Not really!

Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)

    – Anything!! I loooove it when you do crazy tutorials like the candy one, the greek gods one, wasn’t really a fan. :-)

Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?

    – a disney villains series would be awesome!!

Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)

    – Yes but not too much. Maybe like once a month or something.

Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?

    – I don’t know how you can get MORE in-depth. You pretty much doing great with swatches and everything. :)

    Any other suggestions?

    – Stay awesome! :)

I definitely think you should start saying product names again. I honestly just stopped watching your tutorials ’cause you stopped saying product names. I don’t come on your blog often because it lags the f out of my stupid computer. :( But, honestly, I think even if I did come on your blog, I don’t think I’d watch the tutorials because, to me, they aren’t as helpful without product names.

    I liked the whole series and scheduled videos. Even mini series were fun. Also, interactive posts with polls, q&a, etc. would be fun, I think. My favorite videos from you were first impressions. Thanks, Leesha. :}

I love the series videos you do. Pick any series you think would be fun.

Also, more of the first impressions videos.. especially for MAC collections if nothing else. Your review/first impressions of the Quite Cute collection was very helpful to me as I’m sure it was to others as well.

Product Name: I like it that you dont say the product name just because you tend to describe the product more than just saying the name. so if you say I’m going to use a matte purple, I can think ok I’ve got than vs. if you said I’m using purple haze by mac. It’s not a big deal either way that just why I prefer no names

My favorite videos are Tutorials and Swatch/Review

Love and miss the Tutorial Series!!! Always looked forward to every Wednesday and Friday

    Interactive posts would be fun

Swatch/Review posts are great as they are

Q: Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
A: I think the only time you really NEED to say a product name is when the quality of the product or the color of the product is noticably different from other products. However, if you’re just using a basic black or something like that, I think it’s best to encourage us to use what we have.

Q: What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
A: I enjoy reviews and previews the most. Your opinion is more important than knowing how to apply makeup in a specific way, as your older tutorials can teach us the technique needed just as well.

Q: Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
A: I realize you still do them, but I feel like you used to do more nail polish reviews than you do now. Being a polish junkie, these are very interesting and helpful for me.

Q: Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
A: Yes, it’s fun and interesting. Also, it’s great for planning costumes or looks for theme parties.

Q: Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
A: It’d be a bit difficult, but maybe a series of looks based on TV characters (I know you were really into LOST, for example), this would probably be based more on personality than image…kind of like when you did a look for Tina from Glee. :)

Q: Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
A: Yes, especially guest looks/reviews. You’re very talented and pleasant to listen to, but sometimes it’s refreshing to have a different person’s opinion/technique included.

Q: Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
A: If a product is unique, then a review that’s a bit more in-depth would be nice. However, if it’s just swatches of a new color, I like them the way they are.

    Q: Any other suggestions?
A: I realize that this is a makeup-based blog, but I’d like to see more videos about other aspects of your personality. It’d be nice if maybe you could show us different fashion trends or celebrity looks that you like (or something similar). I feel that makeup is part of fashion, and that there are many different aspects of fashion that we could get a glimpse at. Maybe one video a month or every other month for this would be good. :)

PS I love the fact that you’re asking your audience their opinion in this way. Even if we all already knew it in the back of our minds, it shows us that you care a lot about what we think. <3

    April 18, 2011 at 7:24 am

I don’t think you should start mentioning product name cause sometimes people feel discouraged if they don’t have that exact product. I like your concept of use what you have cause you don’t always need named brand products inorder to duplicate your look.

I really enjoy first impression and whould love to see more of those <3

I love when you review but a little more indepth would probably be better.

I really love your tutorial series.

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
Yes, I think it would be better, but you can add, like some people already suggested, that one can use any similar product (which kind of seems logical to me anyway :)).

What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
I obviously love the reviews you make, but my absolute favorite videos are the monthly favorite videos, I find them very helpful (even if here in Switzerland many of the mentioned brands don’t even exist. Lucky us ^^

Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
I love them. My favorites were Harry Potter houses and Greek Gods.

Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
    Maybe some color themed series.

Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
    Yes :D I would love Q&A.

Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
No, they are perfect just the way they are :)

  178. Katy

    April 18, 2011 at 8:44 am

I think you should start mentioning product names again, because you can push your idea by saying ‘You don’t have to use – product name- you can use something else that is the same colour” Also it is useful to know what colour you’re using just in case people might have it :)

I like seeing original looks and videos that aren’t following a type of trend – I noticed on youtube people start doing videos that are all common and it’s just not original.

I miss the random Leesha where you were more relaxed and silly – in a good way- on camera – wayy back in 2007/8/9. You’re not overly forced and fake like some youtubers but it has changed slightly – I appreciate you growing up but I know myself, and I’m sure others love you for being more relatable – and that was more possible when you were more giggly and relaxed and silly :D silly is the wrong word but I can’t think of a better one lol.

Yes i do enjoy series videos! :D Keeps it interesting and something to look forward too :)

Not sure of a series in particular atm :)

Personally, interactive posts don’t bother me tbh :)

Yes I think that maybe reviewing a product you should show us you wearing it and then show us it after a day – you did that with one product once, put it on, then returned to camera at the end of the day :) That was really useful, also you could suggest alternatives to the products :)

You could do some tag videos! They’re always interesting to watch especially the question ones not so much the ‘list 10….blah blah” ones lol :D

    Hey Leesha,

I love your tutorial series. It was good because you had at least one new tutorial every week.
Your colourful or over the top looks I love the best. Def do some looks that would be seen a mile away.
Some of your old old posts (like, 2009 or before?) really got me into makeup because of all the bright colours.

I like review videos as opposed to first impressions. First impressions don’t always do the product justice, or alternatively, there could be problems with it that aren’t immediately apparent.

But, I love your set up!

    Keep it up x

    * Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
Yes, I don’t see the harm in it, and if something is unique/pretty enough I may buy it. I don’t see the issue naming products, even if they hard to find or high end. It’s easy enough to find substitutes for a lot of stuff anyway.

    * Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
I actually liked the few non-beauty videos you did (the piercing one comes to mind).
I like the tutorials based on specific themes, and I think those should be done more, it’s fun to see how people interpret stuff like that. I really liked nail stuff too.

    * Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
    Yes.

    * Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
More tutorials based on different stuff?
More tutorials based on other beauty stuff, like nails?
Perhaps videos based on things somewhat related to beauty like fashion? Obviously this would be kept to a minimum, but Michelle Phan does it and it doesn’t distract from her (more famous) beauty videos.

    * Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
Other than suggestions for new themes, not really. Really, if I want to find videos/reviews from other people I could easily go find them on their channels (I don’t mean this to be mean, honestly! :P). Links/suggestions are cool though, as were Q&A videos peppered around for common stuff.

    * Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
Yes, and I’d also say that trying a product out for prolonged periods of times is also a good idea, sometimes certain products change after a while or work less or even better, blah blah.

    * Any other suggestions?
Some people seem really pissy, especially on youtube. Just ignore them and don’t feel the need to justify yourself to them, people who like the videos often outnumber the negative people, but positive folks more often than not just don’t make comments.

The themed tutorial videos were awesome, and don’t feel the need to just stick to “beauty”. Some of your jewelry/clothes look really cool, maybe make a few about that? Or your room makeover?

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?

I nmy opinion I don’t think it matters if you say the name or not as you always have the list of the products used and make it clear at the begining of your video where to find the list.

What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
I prefer the tutorials; sorry I know they are probably more work for you and take longer to film.

Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
I did like those series as I found it interesting seeing how you used the theme to inspire you to create your looks. My mum saw the Peacock Garden Makeup Tutorial and was very impresssed with you took a laptop cover to create that look.

I really liked your greek gods, candy, disney princess looks and super heroes.

Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
When you got everyone to vote wasnt it really close between a few? Perhaps do one of the runners up and/or do another vote.
Errrmmm my ideas (not sure if anyone else has suggested them sorry if i am repeating you)
    *nature series
*looks that are suitable for different skin tones (similar to the eye colour series you did)
*colour themes i.e. a look based around one colour

Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
I like the polls i.e. when you asked us to pick which themems would be used for wearable Wednesday.

You could also have a poll/vote to see if there are any areas that people need help with e. g. beauty basics.

Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
I like them as they are.

    Any other suggestions?

1 Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
YES! Yes, it makes people more upset. We need to keep checking back and forth from the videos to your blog, bla bla, it would be nicer if you are saying product names again!!

2 What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
    Posts: SWATCHES!!!
videos: tutorials & reviews, vlog with your cats :))

3 Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
First Impressions :( I MISS THEM

4 Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
pretty much yes. But I prefer the regular tutorials, they seem to be different all the time and you don’t need to stuck in one color scheme/theme.

5 Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
    So far…nope.

6 Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
Polls & beauty Q&A sound good. Guest looks/reviews… no offense, but I think they are not fun.

7 Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
    YES PLEASE!!!!

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
It really doesnt matter, you already say where to find all the information and u usually give a nice desciption of the product u are about to use anyway which is always helful =)

What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
I really like you tutorials and tip videos

Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
Quick Tips and First Impressions – loooove FI, it was always helpful and there really isnt anything similar out thre

Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
Some of my favourite looks that u have done come from various series (kinda still wish that u kept going with the super hereos series)

Would you like more interactive posts?
Yes please! quest looks are always enlightening and polls can be fun

Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
Yes, sometimes i wish that u wrote a bit more about how the product actuualy applies and such. like does it feel dry as the day wears on and such, i guess it would be similar to a video review but in written form

    Hope that was helpful =)

Some of the stuff you talk, show/review/swatch, and use are unavailable in the country i live in-australia so of course other people would have that problem living in other countries less likely to be shipped to. Plus maybe you could do country ones going by flag coulors, patterns, sport coulors ie: aussie ones being green and gold, scenire and so on it would look pretty mad

    * Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again? (This is probably the most questioned practice I do- and the main reason was always because I wanted to push the idea of “use what you have”, but I feel like it makes more people upset than stating name-brands.)
=> Yes, you should. You could go by saying “This is “Product name” but you could also use something else and show it so that we can look for something similar.

    * What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
I’m missing tutorials. I really like hauls or when you show new products but I’m really missing those because they’ve been hanging on the low.

    * Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
    see above
    * Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
i totally do! i love them! but i’m also into this “wearable wednesday/fierce friday” thing. you should keep that going!
    * Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
maybe you could some impressive looks for people with glasses or again those “turn this day look into a night look!
    * Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
They’re alright but I’m not really into guest looks or Q&A, I think it’s best to keep them on your website instead of doing videos about them.
    * Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
I think they’re good the way they are
    * Any other suggestions?
I really like your looks but sometimes i feel like the colors wouldn’t look great on me.
I’m pretty pale (which will change during summer break) and dark brown hair and greyish-blue eyes and I feel like some looks aren’t very wearable for me.
is there anything you can do, for example a review on something like that?

I liked the Greek Gods series, but I think theres alot of mythology where you could pull ideas from, the greek gods are very romantic, whereas I think the Norse gods would be more bold and use more silver, and the Celtic Gods would be more green and naturish, just a thought, I am really into mythology.

I enjoy your posts, the ones that are the most beneficial to me are the WW and FF looks. I do not mind the product names in the post and I really did not notice afterwards that you stopped using the product names so that’s my 2cents there. I liked the series posts that you did like the princesses, greek gods etc. I would like to see more. I also was excited when I saw the Red Carpet Report ( http://www.xsparkage.com/?p=2364 ) and it was more or less an advertisement for Lancome; I was expecting you to have pulled your fav red carpet make up and be able to watch a video tutorial of how you did it. They were all fresh faced, beautiful lashes and liner that showed that off with blush that worked for them opening a discussion on choosing the right blush and overall face colors for you. I would like to see celeb look of the week/month to bring in the interaction you can post a few celeb or even magazine editorial or ad looks and have us vote on what we would like to see recreated by you. On the topic of your swatches I would like to see you do a few looks on the palette when you are swatching a palette like you did for the mac quite cute (but in one blog) and what kinds of looks this would be better for day/night and skin tone. Something else that may be fun to do is a look for WW and use the same colors for FF showing some “day” colors’ versatility and how “product placement” makes the look day/night not just how much is packed on.

I love your tutorials, and I really loved the series you have done (especially Greek Gods and Twilight looks, which is how I found your wonderful blog). I also really appreciate the balance you have between wearable, every day looks and ones that are a little more “out there.”
I really like it when you mention products by name. I also like the times you’ve given a comparable product name or color. I know you can’t always, but it’s nice when you can.

I hope you’re enjoying all your mom time!

I would like to see product listings again. I totally understand why you took them out, but I never really got the impression that you listed the products as a plug. I’d always just used whatever I had, because there’s no way I’m going to go out and drop a bunch of money for one look and most people wouldn’t do that, either. You realize that, so IMO, people need to simmer down.

That being said, the product listings are helpful because if I do see something in a look that I really like and I don’t have, I want to know what it is so I can go check it out and see for myself if it’s worth buying. Some of my favorite parts of your website are product reviews. I’d never even used eyeshadow primer before I started watching your videos. OMG, I know… how did I survive before TooFaced Shadow Insurance? :)

And lastly, a cheesy bit for you. I hope that whatever you do, you have fun. Makeup is about enjoying, taking care of, and respecting yourself as a canvas for art. Thanks for being brave and putting this all out there for the world to see, sharing knowledge and passion is important. There are always going to be assholes out there with differing opinions and I hope that you can let it slide off your back.

The comment about different countries around the world would be cool. It’d be nice to see like Parisian makeup or like Arabian, also doing tutorials for birthstones of the months would be cool (you could do those once a month)

“Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?”

I think saying the product name is good as it gives the viewer a good idea of what you are using. Something that could be helpful for those who can’t afford to buy high end products all the time is to maybe do a video where you show cheap alternatives for staple products or at least some cheaper brands that you trust to deliver a good product.

My other suggestion would be to do a video/post on tips and tricks that you think every person should know when putting on makeup but most people don’t seem to know.

    Love your work!

    Hey Leesha,

I get what you mean about the “use what you have”, but it does help if you mention the name of things, as there’s lots of dupe lists out there on Google.

I like guest looks and interactive stuff, and would love for swatch/reviews to be more in depth.

Also, extravagant, not-really-that-wearable stuff is what interests me most. I feel like there’s so many other gurus doing the wearable thing that it would be cool to see more creativity and.. weirdness. Does that make sense? Like the stuff you used to do when you first started out. BRIGHT and crazy and fun.

It seems like you try really hard to please your subs, which is really nice of you Leesha, but it’s not as fun to watch when you’re not passionate about your looks. I think at the end of that day, you should just do what YOU feel is right, and what YOU enjoy doing. :)

    Hi Leesha!

First i have to say that you’re doing a great job! I love your videos and your website so much! I admire you for this work!

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
I think if you post the names of the products on your website it will works. Those of us who want to know the names can have a look on your blog.

What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
I love the wearable wednesdays and first impressions videos!

Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
    For me absolutely no!

    Do you enjoy Tutorial Series?
Yes I do! Especially the WW ones.

Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
I would be very interested in a tutorial serie named “around the world”. It was even a theme to vote.

Would you like more interactive posts?
For me your videos are the best!

Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
Your way to do swatches / reviews is for me the best one!

    Any other suggestions?
At the moment no. Please stay as you are!

I would prefer that you say the names of products in your tutorials, it’s just easier for me to go “okay yeah i have that” and then I’ll use it, but then I’m not the type of person to freak out if you use things I don’t have (it was baffling to me that people would actually get mad about that), so for me it’s more crucial that you describe the exact color so I can use whatever I have that is similar :)

I love the tutorial series, I know it also can give you more ideas and inspiration more easily, so you can post more tutorials! I am a huge fan of your old old videos, so do more bright crazy things! Those are my favorite! I know how to use brown just fine I just need some more ideas on what crazy color goes with what other crazy color, but I’ll wear any color of the rainbow and rock it! :D

You’re of all time favorite gurus, so I’m counting on you to help me figure out what I’m wearing tomorrow lol. Keep it up, you’re so awesome :)

I think you should say the product name, but also state that you really should use what you have and dont just go out and buy new stuff.

However I would really love it if you mentioned the brushes more, I always have such a hard time finding the right brush to use.

Thanks, and great job on everything you have done! :D

“Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?”
I have to say, I do miss when you said the product names. I definitely get why you don’t, but I think it’d be easier to just throw in a quick “remember, guys, you can find dupes for this stuff” and then name the things off, that way, if someone DOES want to spend the money on the exact thing you used, it makes it easier to do so.

“What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?”
    Tutorials and First Impressions videos.

“Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?”
I would’ve said the wearable wednesdays, but you mentioned bringing that back, right? :)

    “Do you enjoy Tutorial Series?”
Yes! My favorite tutorials are the ones that come in series.

    * Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
    – I don’t think you have to name them during the video. The list below of the products you used works for me. Maybe do that and in parenthesis be a little more descriptive like ~Swimming (Glittery Light Green).

    * What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
-I love all your makeup tutorials. They’re very helpful. I love all the looks you come up with.

    * Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
    – I liked the Tutorial Series. I just think themes are fun.

    * Do you enjoy Tutorial Series?
    – Totally do.

    * Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
    – Maybe something in the way of viewer’s choice. Viewers could send in pictures as inspiration and you could take it from there.

    * Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
    – Q&A is really cool. I would think a lot of your followers have the same questions and trust your opinion.

    * Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
    – Photos of the product swatched and a description or texture and application works for me.

    * Any other suggestions?
    – Keep doing what you’re doing!

I think you do a fantastic job running this website. THe only suggestions I can think of are:

I would like to see more in depth product analysis for reviews. It seems when you do reviews you tend to say “I think” which leads me to believe you haven’t actually used to product. That type of phrase would work for first impressions but not reviews.

I don’t think you should have to say what products you are using in tutorials. I think listing them on your website is fine.

You always have really cool nails in videos so i would love to see more nails of the day.

Also an idea I had would be to have guest posts who recreate your tutorials using drugstore or other alternative products.

    keep up the great work.

    Dear Leesha,

I was breifly scanning through your questions. You have really taken time with them in fact that I would love it if you named the items you use again. It so much funner to watch when you know exactly what is used. Secondly, I was hoping for you to do a small series for the disney princess again. I am sure you won’t but if you do, the video quality will increase and you can update the princesses(tangled, princess and frog) I love you Leesha don’t you ever change!

Hey, i love your web-site and have gotten lots of inspiration from you. I am on my way to becoming a make-up artist and love to see what others out there are doing. So to answer some of your questions…i like the product reviews because they introduce me to so many new things that i didn’t know were out there and will someday be able to use. Mentioning product names in the videos doesn’t really matter to me, ether way it gets known because you do list what you use at the end. I also like when you do a theme of things, like the HP, Greek Gods & Goddesses, and candy. I myself am a Disney Nerd so i love Disney themed things. Over all i think you are doing a wonderful job so keep it up and remember faith, trust and just a little bit of pixie dust. Hope this was helpful.

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
i don’t really mind it if you but a lot of people don’t have money for high-end make-up products but want to know the names because you can search for dupes on the internet!

What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
i like the review videos better then the posts because you describe you opinion better. also i love the series very much!

Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
there isn’t really a type of video you don’t do enymore =)

Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
i love them all =) i would like one with make-up looks using earth tones and metals because that looks great on everyone i think.

Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
i think doing Q&A is the most fun because people can ask smaller things you don’t need to make a whole video/post for

Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
yes, i often feel that i don’t have enough information to know if i need to buy it or not, in videos you describe it a lot better and you just really sound nice btw ;)

I LOVE the make-up tortials- the more the better. You can not go wrong with that. Series are cute- i am indifferent to that. But I would like to see more basic tips. Like how to deicde what color/type of blush to use, when to use what kind of brush, how to make the perfect wing, how to apply false lashes, etc

I also love the reviews and swatches- i am always looking for good products to use, and this helps me so I do not waste money on crappy products. I think when you do reviews though you should mention the durability and last of the product. First Impressions are nice, but they do not give inisght into how long the product will last throughout the day.

For product names I like that you have them at the bottom- you should always do that. In the video you don’t have to say the name- but maybe you should describe what kind of product it is so we can find a product like it. Like whether it is a powder, liquid, sheer, matte, color, finish, etc

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
I can see both sides. I like your approach in the videos. If people are so irritated with having to go to your blog for the list of products used, maybe you could put it in the video description or something to pacify them? Whatevs. I know I can just go to your blog if I wanna know haha.

What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
I like your reviews on your blog because you take such great photos w/ that new camera! :) Any kind of video really is fine. You’re fun to watch.

Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
Not all your looks (especially the bright ones) are ones I’d wear, but I like to watch your tuts for technique, and as I mentioned on Twitter last night, my fav thing about your tuts is you don’t just edit out when you make a mistake. You show us how to fix it! That is the most valuable info ever!!

Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
I’d love to see your work on other people, but getting models to come in and sit for a tut isn’t easy.

Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
    Q&A would be fun.

Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
    I think they’re fine as-is.

I loved your quick tips series from way back when. Seeing as I’m heading off to college in the fall, I would really appreciate a “college essentials” video because I don’t have the luxury of hauling my collection to the dorm. It would just take up too much space, and it’s the season for downsizing.

So basically: a couple staple lipsticks, liners, shadows, etc. that I can mix and match uses for.
I love your videos, and I love product names. For me, it just adds to the video, and I learn about products I like more than others. :D

I already posted but one more thing on you saying the product names. I think It would be awesome if you did a post on finding eyeshadow colors in drugstores to match come colors like from MAC. You would go to a store and get colors that match to ones that you have used in tutorials. I do know that it does require spending money, so instead if you wanted you could take a notepad and when you find colors that are kind of the same just wright them down and look for pictures online.

I love it when you do series. I especially liked the candy one. I was thinking you could do like emotions possibly. Ones that represent sad, happy, sarcastic, crazy, disappointed things like that.

I love the outrageous and crazy looks that you do, but it would be nice if you could do more subtle looks but not completely bare ones. Something that kind of shows but isnt crazy.

BRUSHES!!!! I always have the hardest times with trying to get brushes from crown brushes that are kind of like the mac brushes. If you could do a tutorial on this, that would be really appreciated but if not then thats okay.

You are great at what you do, and I love how you are all about the fans. Thanks, and keep it up!

    * Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
I think naming the products on your blog (only) works perfectly fine. It’s a click away it should be a problem for anyone.

    * What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?
Make up tutorials of corse (:

    * Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?
I’d like to see the wearable wednesday/fierce friday or a series come up again, those are fun to watch
and as mentioned above, more nail videos? pretty please (:

    * Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
    very much so!

    * Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
Not that I can think of.

    * Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)
    Yes, especially Q&A.

    * Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
I think you’re doing a great job with how every you’re currently doing them.

    * Any other suggestions?
I for one, don’t think it is necessary for you to list “cheaper” products to replace any you originally use in a video for your viewers because that just seems like so much for you to do when they them self, can easily do it.
That takes so much work with all the products out there and I think you only mentioning product names on your blog encourages people to find similar and cheaper products. (And to be completely honest, seems lazy on the viewers part if they want you to do all the work.) Only my opinion.

But amazing job with everything, I enjoy your videos the most!

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again? (This is probably the most questioned practice I do- and the main reason was always because I wanted to push the idea of “use what you have”, but I feel like it makes more people upset than stating name-brands.)

Please do! Please please please. Its really helpful to know the product names.

What are your favorite types of Posts/Videos to see?

I love your tutorials and blogs, wish there were more product based videos. (First Impressions, Favorites, etc)

Is there a type of video I used to do that you miss?

Wearable Wednesday and Fierce Friday, but you’re bringing those back I believe. :)

Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)

Not more than your normal videos.

Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?

Nope, I’m sure you’ll get lots of requests anyways.

Would you like more interactive posts? (polls, beauty Q&A, guest looks/reviews)

No harm in more, but its not like there’s a massive lack of them right now.

Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?

They’re not deficient in detail, but I would welcome more elaboration!

    Any other suggestions?

Um. Please never stop beauty blogging?

I really miss when you used to do the themes based on movie characters! I’d really love to see one for “Sucker Punch” because it’s all so beautiful and can be pulled off by pretty much anyone!

Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again? (
Yes. People know they can use a similar colour etc, I really preferred it when you said the product names. Otherwise it can be hard to go through the blog and work out exactly what the product was – espeically when a look uses several eyeshadows… The videos flow alot better too when you mention the names, less awkward than trying to describe each product every time.

Do you enjoy Tutorial Series? (Greek Gods, Candy, etc)
Yes :) These are fun every now and then. And i think a good way for you to get creative, get some inspiration and keep on track.

Would you like Swatch/Review posts to be more in-depth?
I love what you have been doing with the blog posts for these. Maybe a rating scale would be helpful for us viewers/readers :)

Keep up the great work Leesha. Honestly, watching your videos has taught me sooooo much! :)

I think that you need to mention what brushes you use. There have been a video or 2 that I have inquired about what brush you used for that part of your eye makeup and I never got a response. As you know… brushes can make or break the way your makeup turns out. If you arent going to say the name, can you atleast write it down with what makeup you used. Other then that… you are doing fantastic. I love your videos!!!

I’ve always liked that you tend to go by “Leesha”. When I was little my mom called me “Leesha-Lou” so I always smile when I hear it! I definitely like you mentioning the product names in your tutorials because what better way is there to find out if you’re interested in a product than to ACTUALLY SEE IT USED. In fact, it kinda detracts when you don’t hear the name because 1) people are visual by nature and need to see something to associate it with its name and 2) sometimes the product name itself is descriptive of the product, as in color names ect. Of course I can’t afford a lot of the higher end stuff you have, but when I’m in the market for something it helps to have a larger, more widely known brand or name to compare against. Plus, if I’m buying something anyways there’s no bigger disappointment than bringing something home thinking it’s gonna work out and it turns out not so good. If I go in knowing what brands are reputable and what products I’ve seen work out well for you, I generally come out a lot happier. Besides, I think having the luxury of using the brands you use is kindof the gift of hard work. That is to say, I’m willing to bet you didn’t start off using Armani stuff. I like to reward myself with a really nice brand for having enough skill to pull off a not so nice brand…

Oh, and the series’ are the shizznazzledazzle! I really like when you’re in the middle of a video and you bust out a bunch of “why”s. I went through art school so I really appreciate it when you talk about color theory or the techno-gidgits (scientific lol) way things work.

Mostly, just keep it up! You do an amazing job and the only time I’m ever sad when looking at your blog is when there isn’t a happy Leesha post waiting for me.
    tee-hee!

I love series but still having other videos put up throughout those. Also, I don’t think you need to put the product names. I agree with the “use what you have,” but honestly, people should be able to figure that out on their own. If you say the names, people will get annoyed that you’re using high-end, but if you don’t, they’ll get annoyed that you’re not. In this situation, there’s no way to make everyone happy, so just do what you truly want to.

I think you should def go back to saying the product names in your videos. When they are just listed and you’ve used multiple colors on your lid its a bit confusing.
I loved the video series that you’ve done.

I lovvved the series, ie Greek & Twilight. I enjoy them. It’s not only something to look forward to, but it’s also putting an idea to a specific thing. Themes are nice because it lets us play along, and if we like a certian god (i.e. Ares), we can enjoy the fierceness of him in a make-up tutorial. It’s really fun:)

Okay, I know I’m really far behind, but I’m also just now discovering this site, and all the stuff on youtube. Here are my thoughts as a new person. :)
Do you think I should be saying product names in my videos again?
YES! Even though I don’t have a ton of makeup (not that I wouldn’t mind having it), I usually just buy the stuff you can get cheaply because that’s all I know. Yes, I’ve heard of Urban Decay and MAC…but I’ve never heard of anyone usuing it or seeing anyone use it (that’s what I get for growing up in a really, really small town in TN). Also, when you show the product and the name, and then you use it…it makes me go, AH! So that’s what that looks like and how it wears…now I want one! For example, I totally love the Urban Decay’s Naked pallet and totally wanting one. It’s all your fault! ;)

    Do you enjoy Tutorial Series?
    Yes.

Is there a type of series you’d be interested in seeing?
What about a video game series? Maybe do like…certain characters…Aeris from Final Fantasy VII, Kairi from Kingdom Hearts, or Lara Croft from Tomb Raider (I’m a total nerd).

Again, new. So I don’t have much else to help!

I really like the videos you do. You’ve actually become my favorite youtube makeup junkie. Everyday I get on youtube to see if you have anything new and I always go back and watch old videos. I like how bold you are with the products and looks. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the series you’ve done-especially the super heroes because they were so different from eachother. I have a request though because I couldn’t find it in your videos: Can you do like a night out look? Something different but still not too out there? I know it’s a little different than what you usually do but it would be much appreciated! :-) As far as the series go I think maybe cartoon characters (i.e tom and jerry or scooby doo or spongebob or something like that)

I like it when you mention the products that you use especially the NYK jumbo eye pencil in Milk. I had never seen it and it was great that you identified the product. because I could not find a eye pencil in white. When I knew what the product was I could go buy it seeing I had not found am alternative.

The one thing I would love to see is a series done on the Urban Decay – Naked and Naked 2 palates.
