Guest Look: Dawn B (Mystique)

Hi! My name is Siryn (or Dawn) and I’m a huge comic book fan! I tend to do my make up to reflect some of my favorite super heroes/heroines and really enjoy spreading the love to my friends and others who like my make up and are just as into comic books as me! :D  I recently did a look inspired by the classic version of Mystique from the comics. I represented her shapeshifting by using 4 different blues that seamlessly blended into eachother. I represented her white dress so I used a pretty sparkly white in the corners and a matte white as a highlighter. And last, but not least, her awesome red hair was represented on my lips!  I wasn’t entirely happy with how it came out, and so that being said, I will plan on doing a second version of this later on. (As I was applying the shadow I decided I wanted to do something else, but it was too late at that point lol) Anyway, I hope you do like this first version! I base my make up looks off of character’s costume, skin, and power colors. I hope you enjoy the look as much as I enjoyed putting it together!

You can see this look and more on my blog! Thanks for reading!

I looked at your web site and it is so cool! I love how you incorporate a lot of looks with comic characters. I only you wish you could post videos.

  2. anon says:

this is the worst look I have ever seen. Is there something wrong with me that I don’t see this as being anywhere near the level of Leesha’s work??? Shouldn’t it be a privilege to have your looks submitted?? This is not xsparkage worthy, I am sorry :(

    • Dawn B. says:

I’m sorry you don’t like it. I am a beginning make up enthusiast and this was one of the first looks I did before my technique got a little neater (I submitted this a few months ago and had completely forgot). I can’t please everyone, but constructive criticism is welcome.

      • Dawn B. says:

Also, Leesha chooses and decides what she wants to share on her blog. Had she thought my look was that terrible, I don’t think she would have put it up. It’s not one of the favorite ones I’ve done, but I still had the balls to put it up and own it. And it is a privilege that she put it up here and I’m honored she chose to put this up. I never said I was up to par with Leesha’s work and I’m not trying to compete with her. That’s not what this is about.

I’m sure Leesha will appreciate hearing that you thought her taste in choosing me was poor. Next time, don’t hide behind being anonymous. I’m not. Thanks and have a great day! :)

i dont know what anon is talking about i think it looks amazing! i love the way you have blended all the colors together…. also blue is not a color everyone can pull off with out looking like a smurf lol and you pull this look really well…. i also loved how you decided not to use false lashes and went with your natural lashes!!! 2 thumbs up!!!!

          • Dawn B. says:

Thanks Almeida88! I like the old school smurfs lol (Smurfette was workin it! haha!) Sometimes falsies can be a pain, so I usually go back and forth using them :)

    • Sam says:

Obviously it’s xsparkage worthy or else it wouldn’t be on xsparkage. YOU come up with something better. The look is lovely.

  3. Anne Marie says:

I love this look! It may be one of your first, and perhaps one of the simpler ones (I’ve been following your blog since the beginning, and it’s been a treat to see how your technique has grown!), but it is still one of my favs!

I really love how the white/blue/black all blend together! It makes for a very smooth line! Fantastic work! ^_^

  4. Jenn says:

I think this is an excellent job, especially if you say it’s one of your beginner looks! Keep on doing what you do and don’t let anyone deter you. I can only imagine how amazing your current work is. Leesha did a great job picking you. I wish I could do and pull off that look!

  5. kristi says:

i like the overall look, but i just dont get the eyebrows. why why WHY??!! they are so harsh, pointy, and UNNATURAL! really unflattering, cholo-ish, and tranny-esque, not in a good way. you are a pretty girl, so fix those wonky brows! just sayin!

  6. Nabeel1211 says:

Not quiet sure how I landed on this page!  Those piercing deep light sand beautiful EYES. Not too sure about the eye-brows: should’ve left them natural……:)
COULD GAZE AT THOSE EYES ALL NIGHT …….!  Stay smiling….;)
