Fortune Cookie Soap: Whipped Cream

By  |  28 Comments

I have to admit, I am usually one to forget to put on body lotion. If I do, its usually just on my hands. It’s weird, because every time I actually decide to put some on, I end up loving how soft my skin feels, so you would think I’d make it a habit, right? Wrong.

A few weeks ago, Fortune Cookie Soap, who I am a big fan of, asked me for my opinion on some of their new body butters, which they call Whipped Cream.  Now, while I don’t always use lotion all over, I do use it constantly on my hands, because my fingertips get dry and cracked really easy and it’s not pretty (especially if you have a hardcore macro lens and take polish swatches!) Lotion is kinda essential.

My current favorite lotion is a discontinued lotion from MAC, their honey lotion. It’s AMAZING, but, like I said, discontinued. It works great on my hands, but it’s a bit thick for all over use. That being said, I was definitely pleasently surprised when these new Whipped Cream body butters came in the mail!

These have a whipped texture (hence the name), they remind me of the texture of Bath & Body Works Body Butters a lot. They are nice and thick, but sink into the skin really quickly, so your skin doesn’t feel tacky for more than half a minute. This is a HUGE plus for me, because I think that’s one of the reasons I’m not big on all-over lotion- I hate that tacky lotiony feel, I like the after effect!

Another great thing about these is that the scent actually lasts for quite some time, unlike a lot of other brands, where the scent fades away rather quickly. Also, they’re all natural. Awesome.

These come in five scents:

Chocolate Moose: This one smells like a lot of chocolate scents out there. Not personally my favorite, but that’s mainly because I have never ever found a chocolate scent that I actually like!

Cucumber My Melons: Smells exactly like the Bath & Body Works one :)

Cupcake: If you have ever made vanilla cake from a store bought mix, this smells EXACTLY like the batter. mmmm!

Pretty in Plumeria: Normally my least favorite scents are floral ones. They give me headaches. This flower is the only exception- I LOVE the way this smells! Sweet, slightly floral (but not overpowering) and fresh. Love, love love.

Something Tropical: By far, this is my favorite. I was sent testers of these, and the label for this one was hand written, “something tropical”. I kept wondering what the final name would be, because I assumed this was one of those moments: “cant think of a name for this one, I’ll just write ‘Something Tropical’ until we figure it out!” I laughed when I saw it was the actual name :) This one is mouthwatering, it smells like a tropical vacation in a tub, without smelling like sunscreen or ocean. I have this one next to me at my desk and I’m constantly putting it on. If you like fruity and tropical scents, you need this!!

Because these were just released, they are selling them on sale for $8.98 instead of the normal price of $10.99 until next weekend (1/22 or 1/23). If you end up picking some up, let me know!! :)

“I have never ever found a chocolate scent that I actually like!”

    One word: Moonalisa

It’s the most amazing bath and body treats ever, Moona is a freaking genius with scents. Of course you also have to wait for sales, and everything goes fast so liking Moona’s stuff or “MooPoo” can turn you into a frothing fangirl in no time flat. You have been warned!

I’ve been trying to find a lotion for me that’ll work not just going on, but to keep the feel all day. I have pale, sensitive, dry skin and the dry skin gets worst in the winter. I’m sick of putting lotion on and then to only find my legs and arms ashy in like an hour or so.

You got me into Urban Decay, NYX, MAC, Too Faced and now Fortune Cookies and I love them all <3. So, Imma give this product a try and let you how it works for me.

Thanks again for another review Leesha!

Concerning Something Tropical does it have like a fruity pineapple or coconut scent? Or does it perhaps smell like sun tan lotion? A lot of things labeled “tropical” end up smelling like that I’ve found and I was just wondering if this did too or if it had some kind of other scent to it.

it definitely has more of a pineapple scent with some coconut. not at all like suntan lotion though, more like a tropical cocktail

I’m definitely going to have to check out the Something Tropical. I LOVE LOVE LOVE fresh, fruity scents, and I’ve yet to find a lotion that doesn’t make my hands feel sticky. It’s a real nuisance, because my fingers also get really dry and crack, which makes my nailpolish look not so fantastic. I’ll definitely be checking it out!

I’ve never tried anything from FCS but I’ve seen your reviews on it and I just ordered the Pretty in Plumeria body butter, Hawaiin Ice shampoo bar, and Fallin Leaves bar soap. I’m really excited to see if they will work for me. Thanks for all the wonderful reviews.

I bought the “Pretty in Plumeria” scent while they were still on sale. I have never used a “body butter” so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. I was very pleased with this product. I’ve had it about a week now, and my skin in so soft. Once I open the jar, I have a hard time not wanting to play in it, so I end up putting all over. On my hands, legs, feet, etc. lol

I am really picky about scents, so i decided my safest bet would be the floral one, since that’s more what I like. I LOVE the way it smells. It is so hard to describe. It is like a very sophisticated mix of flowers. If you read to description on the site, they mention something about old lace. That definitely makes sense. It reminds me or how an old Victorian house would smell in the spring… Simple, and pretty, and elegant…I don’t know…I’m trying! lol It’s so unique, but far from disappointing. I highly recommend this if you like floral scents.

They also sent me a free sample of the Kimono scent, which I thought smelled like my lavender fabric softener. Not exactly what I want to smell like. It isn’t awful, just not as appealing in my opinion. The site says it is suppose to be Cherry Blossom, which I have never been a huge fan of. :/

I really love this site, and I plan to make more purchases here in the future! All of their products look awesome! I really want to try the Bath Teas! That is such a unique idea!

Anyways, sorry for such a long post! Thank you, Leesha for introducing me to this site, and many other awesome products! :)

I got the ‘That’s What She Said!’ (vivid) when it came out, and they included a sample of ‘Kimono’. I love the one I ordered, but I have to say that Kimono is now my favorite. The scent is so light and fresh; it’s what you want those “fresh cotton” body sprays to smell like, lol. So, so, SO good. I’m preparing to order 3 or 4 more to give as gifts; everybody needs to try this stuff! PS I ordered a 120 palette this week, and I’m headed to Macy’s this weekend to pick up some VitaZing; thanks for dictating how I spend my paycheck. :) I appreciate that you know your stuff and share your knowledge, Leesha!

I got a sample of That’s what she said in my order the other day and it turned out to be my favorite thing out of my whole package! It smells like a carbonated fruit drink, like a shirley temple. The site says it smells like fruit punch from the tropics, but theres this almost bubbley kinda Sprite smell to it. Love it! I have to buy the real deal now :) my sample is almost gone!
