Dr. Andrew Weil For Origins- Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Mask: Photos, Review
Origins Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Mask is intended to help calm the skin and reduce redness and blotchiness as well as give the skin a nice boost of moisture. I picked this up when Beauty.com was having their Friends & Family sale and decided to try it out this weekend, as my skin has recently gotten over a breakout, but there is still some redness around the area. I thought this was a prefect time to try out a mask intended to help that problem!
This mask is creamy, thick and rich and has an herbal scent, which is appropriate considering what’s inside it (mega-mushroom blend, bamboo leaf extract, and marine algae as far as key ingredients). It’s very cooling when applied as well; not “oh my god this is so cold its painful”, but just very refreshing, and it almost seems to wake you up! The mask also doesn’t really dry or crack/harden, but that is normal for this type of mask considering it is meant to be moisturizing and not oil absorbing, which is what the clay masks that harden are usually meant for.
I left this on for about 10 minutes and then washed off with warm water (The instructions say to use a tissue to wipe the mask off, but I didn’t think that would feel clean enough for me). I did notice that the redness around my breakout had definitely gone down, which was great! The redness wasn’t completely gone, but I didn’t expect it to be, but there was a noticeable difference from what I could tell. My face also felt very refreshed and soft, so I think this mask will be great for days when I’m feeling a bit sluggish.
I think this would be a great buy for those who have issues with redness in their skin, along with those who have problems with really tight, dry skin. I can see this being a go-to product for me in the winter, and I’m curious to try it out if I get sunburned to help cool the skin and relieve redness!
This mask is available from Origins for $35. I just checked their website and it has 4 1/2 star rating from 73 reviews, so I guess I’m not the only one who liked it!! :)
