I’ve gotten quite a few people asking me what happened to my Healthy Beauty posts, were they coming back, how they helped them, etc etc. The reason I stopped posting them is really simple- I just stopped actively trying to loose weight. I still was eating well and limiting my calories, but I wasn’t really putting much effort past that to get in shape. I’m such a procrastinator, it’s always “tomorrow we will go to the gym!” “tomorrow we will work out!” in my head, and then tomorrow comes, and it’s pushed back again. I know that once I actually just DO it, start working out regularly, and start seeing results, I will be on track and won’t want to stop, but I’m really good at making excuses!
I decided that since it’s a new month, and I have events to go to in May and June, it’s now or never. Of course, it’s hard to write all this when I’m sitting here super full from a really good steak and potatoes meal (Today is mine and Tyler’s 7 year anniversary, so we went to a fancy restaurant. It was delicious, but doesn’t help with my “new month, new plan” outlook!) but I digress. Luckily we decided to go out for Lunch instead of dinner, so even though I wasn’t eating the healthiest today, I can still start the work outs tonight!
I have a few things I am going to use this month to help me stay on track-

Body Media FIT On-Body Wellness Monitor: I got this on Groupon a few weeks ago (retails $200, on sale for $95, woohoo!) It’s basically an armband you wear all the time (except for showers and such) and it tracks all sorts of things, including your calories burned, steps taken, minutes of physical activity, and more. When you sign up with the site, you get to choose your activity level, how much weight you are looking to loose, and how fast you want to lose it.

This is part of my tracking from when I first got it. You can see what my target was for things like calories burned and steps, and what I actually did while wearing the device. You even sleep with this on! When I first used it, I was really shocked with how HIGH the burned calories were, but when you think about it, your body is burning calories when you are doing nothing at all- it has a resting calorie burn rate. The reason that most nutrition boxes say that 2,000 calories is the average amount people need to consume is because that’s the average amount of calories your body burns in a day.
I’m going to start wearing my band daily and really trying to hit the goals listed here, at the very least! Oh, and the reason it says 0 for calories consumed is because I use My Fitness Pal for that.

Kick Ass April Calendar: I saw this on Pinterest, and thought, why not? I’m not gonna lie, those end numbers are HIGH. 100 squats?! I feel like I can’t even do 10 right now! I have to keep my mindset as “If you don’t at least try, you will never be able to reach those numbers!

Couch to 5k App: I’m not planning to run an actual 5k, but I would love to be able to up my stamina, and be able to run for longer distances without being winded. This app is a gem for that. The plan is 3x a week interval training for 9 weeks that slowly ups the amount of jogging and lowers the walking so you build stamina. I want to try and do this first thing in the morning, because I find if I don’t get exercise done with first thing, I will find a thousand excuses to not do it the rest of the day!
Those are my main plans as far as working out goes for now. I am also going to incorporate some ab exercises, as that is where almost all my weight seems to accumulate (I call it the inner-tube). I’m feeling really good about starting this plan; I feel really motivated to start feeling better about myself and to just feel good in general. Right now I have about 5-7 pounds to loose until I hit the goal I placed for myself last year, but honestly the number doesn’t matter in the least if I just look how I want to, and that’s what this is about!
Let me know if you want to join me on getting healthy this month! I’ll have new Healthy Beauty Posts every Sunday, talking about food, fitness, struggles and triumphs. I would love to hear your stories as well, let’s motivate each other :)
