Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette- Mi Vida Loca

Hola! So I have been a sucker for Kat Von D palettes for awhile, they’re so preeetttyyy! I haven’t gotten one in some time though, until I happened to see this baby hiding in a leeeeeettle picture on the bottom of the Sephora site. The outside of the palette alone had me excited! Read on to see some more photos and swatches!

Color Descriptions and names in order:

- Mad Max (matte sky blue)

As you can probably tell from the swatches, these shades are a bit more pastel than I originally expected. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing; I think it would work well for the spring, and works nicely for those who are a bit intimidated by color, but like the idea of it. If you want these to really shine, definitely use some sort of base for them to stick to- like a white eyeliner.
I like that this palette doesn’t have any cream shadows that Kat Von D palettes tend to have, as I never touch them, so it’s nice to have all powder shadows here. One of my favorite colors here is actually the first shade, Swan Song (the off-white). The photos don’t do it justice, it has an awesome pink duo chrome going on and is beautiful! All shades in this palette are a frost or satin except the blue, which is matte. This doesn’t bother me, but might get a bit shimmer-overload for some.
As for the eyeliner, I think it’d be pretty just under the lower lashes, or smoked out around the rim of the eyes. It’s a nice vivid blue with a fun shimmer, and would be an unexpected twist on your basic, run-of-the-mill smokey black liner.
Another aspect of this palette that I really love is the packaging. I love the display of “Mi Vida Loca” on the front and how it’s a metallic gradient of color. The palette is metal and has a clasp to close, so the only way to open it is to push in the tab at the front. this is nice because if you’re like me and travel a lot, or tend to take your makeup with you, it’s not going to open on its own. The packaging does have a downside though, and that is the top is a little springy. When you press the tab to open it, the top kinda springs back a little quick. This is also annoying in the sense that the top only stays flat, you can’t keep it open at a 90 degree angle, so it can’t be hands free if you are planning to use the mirror inside.
