MAC Semi-Precious Collection: Mineralized Eyeshadows Review, Swatches

MAC’s Semi Precious Collection includes 12 Mineralized Eyeshadows that come in many different shades, from champagne shades to dark blues. I have six to share with you today! I love looking at these in the pan because they look like little planets :)

While these are really pretty in the pan, I’m not the biggest fan of them swatched, especially the lighter colors. Jade’s Fortune looks NOTHING like it does in pan! The darker colors have nice pigmentation, but unfortunately they fade rather quickly. I feel like every year MAC puts out Mineralized Eyeshadows, and every year the same thing happens- I want them because they look AMAZING in the pan, and then if I do buy them, I’m let down.
If you are going to get any of these, I would recommend Blue Sheen and Dark Indulgence.

    I like them all wet, but Jade’s Fortune is gross dry. Blue Sheen and Golden Gaze are very promising though!

    Mineral Mode looks just like Petticoat MSF.

    While the colors are pretty, they’re not unique.

    Such a pretty idea behind these but I think it’d be more useful if the whole ‘planet’ sort of pattern was used as packaging. The fact that you sort of have to guess what the outcome is going to be is a real put-off, especially considering the price of these shadows.

    The last two – Dark Indulgence and Blue Sheen – remind me of two mineral eyeshadows from eyeslipsface.com – outdoorsy and beachy. Black base, green or blue shimmer.

    YUCK!!! What is up with MAC these days. The quality has gone down hill BIG TIME. Jade’s Fortune looks so pretty in the pan and then the swatch it is totally different. When I saw it in the pan (just now)… I was like “ohhhh, I want that”, then you swatched it. YUCKY.

    hey why dont you do a different eye tutorial getting inspired from jade’s fortune and all colours can be applied to look like they are floating or messing around with each other… what i mean is that the eye DESIGN not colours can be inspired from jade’s fortune…. it will be very unique tho i dont know if that design would be possible on eye…

    In the pans, they look like works of art. I can picture them as paintings for some reason.

    While they’re all pretty, when I saw the pan photo of Dark Indulgence, I gasped a little. That is beautiful!

    Is it just me or does it look like Golden Gaze is more pigmented dry than wet? That’s just weird.

    I’m a MACaholic and I usually buy a butt ton of stuff from each collection.. But… I think I’m passing on this one.. I’m just not impressed with these at all! *once they’re swatched*

    I haven’t compared them side by side, but Faux Gold is….okay, this seems weird, but it’s a dupe for Hard Candy’s baked eyeshadow. I went and looked on their site, and it’s called Intergalactic. They also have one called Space Cadet that is very similar. Space Cadet I’ve seen in person, and it’s much more of a “black with green in it” than it appears online.

    Obviously, I’d hope that the M.A.C. shadows are higher quality, and I believe the size is bigger, but I just thought I’d share…

    Aw, I was afraid of them not looking anything like they did in the pan. The worst thing ever is an amazing eyeshadow that goes on sheer or weird like that :S Thanks Leesha!

    i really like all of them (maybe minus mineral mode) especially love blue sheen and dark indulgence they are sooo pretty, i wish they didnt fade.

    In the pan, Jade’s Fortune kind of reminds me of a conglomeration of the painting Starry Night! It looks to die for, but t’s sad that the pay-off is a let down

    I love them all wet! Although they are quite the letdown dry, you shouldn’t be so harsh. I think you could work with them and make them look fantastic. Jade’s fortune wet, golden gaze dry, and blue sheen are my favorites!
