OPI Blue Shatter Collection: Swatches, Photos

This month, OPI is coming out with quite a few new shatter polishes to add to the trend, including a collection of three shades of blue, ranging from a blue-green turquoise to a a dark navy blue.

This collection brings something new to the crackle and shatter world- shatter polish that is frosty, not just a satin! The Turquoise and Blue Shatter in this collection are definitely shinier than past shatter polishes, which is a nice change of pace, but they do behave differently than the satin shatters.

For one, as you can probably tell from the above photo, they need to be placed on an absolutely dry base color coat, then the shatter needs to be fully dry before a top coat is put on (probably the most important part) because the shatter polish will start to kinda bunch-up and not stay smooth which really isn’t attractive. I re-did these today on different polishes to get a better look at them-

Muuuch better! (and yes, I used mattes as the base, but it wasnt for contrast or anything as that is kinda defeated when you put on a top coat. it was because I just got them in the mail and wanted an excuse to see how they applied :D. ) No streaky bunched up yuckiness.

As always with shatters, the crackle tends to be linear, and the thinner the coat of polish, the more shatter you will have. If you apply the polish in different directions, the shatter pattern will follow suit and be a little more abstract than how it is normally.
