I have been a beauty blogger for quite some time now, and love that I get to try and review so many products for beauty, skin, and hair, but after awhile you start to see that a lot of products start to blend together- eyeshadows, mascara, deep conditioning mask, face wash.. it’s generally the same type of product, with maybe a tweek here or there. I always get really excited when I see something that is a somewhat unique concept that you don’t see everyday. Redken’s Nature’s Rescue Refining Sea Polish definitely fits into that category!

This is a very gentle exfoliant that you use in your hair. I have never seen nor heard of a hair exfoliator, so this really caught my attention!

The Claim:
“Gentle exfoliant, enriched with pumice, removes impurities and refines hair’s surfice leaving it smooth and shiny. Formulated with moisturizing aloe very and soy protein to help protect the hair. Polishes hair surface texture leaving hair silky with reduced frizz from root to tip”

The Product/Use:
The product itself has a very fine grit to it, similar to the texture of sand, and has a fresh sea scent, it reminded me of a spa! I put about a quarter-sized amount into my palms and applied it to freshly shampooed hair. I’m not used to using something with a grit to it in my hair, so while I was massaging it in I was really afraid this was going to leave my hair feeling dry and brittle, but just the opposite happened. While rinsing it out my hair felt really silky and soft, but not heavy like a deep conditioner can be. My hair also felt really clean, but not so much that it didn’t feel slick and dry. This is also a sulfate-free, silicone-free, and paraben-free product, so it’s safe for any hair type, including color treated hair.
Overall Opinion:
I think this is a really cool and unique idea! I don’t think I would use this more than maybe 2x a month though, as I would be afraid that, like with your face, too much exfoliation would cause more harm than good. I think this would also be great if your hair has a lot of build-up and needs a bit of a detox.
